Grievants witnesses, and Association representatives shall be provided release time for grievance processing at no loss of salary or other benefits.
Grievants representatives of the grievants, and witnesses shall be provided reasonable release time for the purpose of processing grievances in accordance with Section 3543.1 of the Educational Employment Relations Act.
Grievants. If, in the judgment of the Association, a grievance affects a group of employees or the Association, the Association may initiate and submit such grievances in writing to the Superintendent directly, and the processing of such grievance shall be commenced at Level II. The Association may process such a grievance through all levels of the procedure, even though there is no individual aggrieved person who wishes to do so. The Association has sixty (60) days to process its grievance.
Grievants. The Union is responsible for determining when, in its judgment, there has been an alleged violation of the contract, and for filing grievances with the appropriate administrator(s) accordingly. When more than one Employee has a grievance involving common facts and provisions of the Agreement, the Union shall process the grievance on behalf of all similarly-situated Employees, clearly specifying that it is a “Group Grievance.” Where one or more extant grievances involve a similar issue, those grievances, by mutual agreement of the parties, may be held in abeyance without prejudice, pending the disposition of an appeal to Step Two or arbitration of a representative case.
Grievants. Every employee and/or the Organization shall have the right to present grievances in accordance with these procedures.

Grievants other than principals, (principals see section 8) shall initiate the grievance at the first level. The administrator at the first level of appeal may hold a hearing at a mutually agreed upon time, shall communicate his or her decision, in writing, to the grievant and to the Association within five (5) school days of having received the written statement.
