These learning goals are met via Saint Mary’s College Collegiate Seminar program and English Composition requirement. Habits of Mind. The Virtual Academy involves strong organizational and time management skills especially while working off campus independently. Students access courses on a daily basis and regularly check online communications. Parent Support: Parent/guardian support is important to the success of Virtual Academy students. Families must be aware of the online requirements, monitor work habits and progress, and ensure appropriate technology access at all times. Families should contact Virtual Academy Advisors, specific teachers, and the counselor if their child is having difficulty (academically or emotionally) in a subject area or in the program itself. Ethics Policy: Students are expected to complete their own work at all times. If a student breaks this code, then the Ethics Policy will be enforced, which will follow the PCHS polity and may result in the student being removed from the course. Cyber bullying will not be tolerated. Students engaged in cyber bullying will meet with the academic xxxx to determine program continuation. Communication: Students are required to log Virtual Academy Courses daily, Monday through Friday, to complete assignments. They must check both their email, Remind 101, and Schoology on a daily basis for messages or updates from the instructor. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor should difficulties arise in completing coursework. Parents/guardians should also communicate with the instructor and inform him/her of any concerns with the course or learning problems that arise. Method of Study: Specific methods of study will be designated on the Student Assignment Sheet incorporated herein. Examples of methods of study for the student will include but are not limited to: Independent Reading, Problem Solving, Study Projects, Drill & Practice, Computerized Curriculum, Web/Internet Research, Library Research,Tests.ALL assignments will be submitted to ACCELERATE in PDF or Word Document format. No Google or Email Submissions. Method of Evaluation: All exams are required to be taken on campus with Virtual Academy instructors. Academic evaluations will be designated on the Student Assignment Sheet incorporated herein. Parents need to help students manage assignment due dates and be available when students are asking for help. Students must access the course on a daily basis and check email regularly for communications from the teacher. Parent Support: Parent/guardian support is important to the success of online students. Parents must be aware of the online requirements, monitor work habits and progress, and ensure appropriate technology access at all times. Parents are taking on the additional responsibility of teaching their child with academic support from the school.
