High School Classroom Teachers. The normal teaching load for grades 9-12 regular classroom teachers in a five (5)-period day, trimester schedule, shall be twelve classes during the school year, unless they are assigned additional teaching assignments under ARTICLE X, Sections 1.-6. Teachers assigned to lunchroom supervision in lieu of a study hall/supervision period will be paid under ARTICLE X, Section 6. for an extra class assignment. The daily schedule will be altered to provide a longer class period during which students will attend one of four lunches. During that class period, classroom teachers will have a designated, daily-directed study of approximately thirty (30) minutes. During that time, special education teachers will meet with students on IEP’s. All other students will remain under the supervision of the regular classroom teacher. Special education teachers will be assigned a maximum of three (3) periods of direct instruction and three (3) of four (4) lunch periods working with students in an instructional setting or supervision. Any teachers who have no teaching assignment during the lunchtime will be assigned to one (1) lunch period of lunchroom supervision. Section 3. of this article shall apply to the assignment of supervisory responsibilities. Excluding “Directed Study Time,” all classroom teachers will have one (1) period daily for preparation.

  • Instructor Associated with the position of Instructor is a nominal workload of 195 hours per half-credit course. This nominal workload is normally made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time. The non-classroom time is made up of preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking or grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty. In the case of a two-hour lecture per week, or the equivalent of a two-hour lecture per week, the incumbent shall also be responsible for the first hour of seminar in each course.
