Identical Seniority Dates. In cases of identical seniority dates:
i) For employees hired on or before May 20, 1998, the last names of the employees concerned and following that, their first names, will be entered on the seniority list, in alphabetical order.
ii) For employees hired after May 20, 1998, the seniority date ranking shall be established by random draw.
Identical Seniority Dates. When the need arises to break identical seniority status (seniority ties) the method used shall be by random drawing. The drawing shall take place while an Association representative is present. Each employee involved shall have their name placed on a separate sheet of paper. The papers will then be placed in an opaque container. After thorough mixing, the papers shall be withdrawn one at a time. The first name drawn shall be considered the most senior continuing to the last name drawn, who shall be considered the least senior.
Identical Seniority Dates. If two or more employees are promoted to the same job classification on the same date, their seniority order, as to each other, in their new job classification shall be governed by length of service.
Identical Seniority Dates. The procedure for breaking identical seniority dates for full-time or part-time Nurses is a three tier process whereby one only proceeds to the next step if the previous step does not break the tie in seniority dates, or such information is not available:
Step 1: date of hire with the Corporation;
Step 2: date of letter of employment with the Corporation. This is the date on the letter in which the Corporation offered a position to the individual;
Step 3: alphabetical by the person’s last name first, followed by the person’s first name and middle name if both have the same first name. It is further understood that with respect to date of hire or date of letter of employment, it is with the Corporation and not with the bargaining unit. In other words, if an individual was hired by the Corporation for a position that was not with ONA 9 - Public Health, and then subsequently obtained a position with ONA Public Health, it is the individual’s hire date with the Corporation, not the hire date with the Local that is being referred to in the above proposal. The same holds true for the date of letter of employment.

If a draw is required, the Company will inform a xxxxxxx and she shall be able to attend the draw.

Bargaining Unit seniority shall be used for determining the order in which vacation, holiday and Earned Day Off selections will be made in October of each year for the following year’s schedule. In the event two (2) or more employees are hired or promoted on the same day, the employee’s ranking on the Civil Service list will be used to determine Bargaining Unit or Classification/Rank seniority.
