IMMEDIATE FAMILY BEREAVEMENT. The teacher’s immediate family is defined as parent, spouse, or child. In cases of immediate family, the first five (5) days of bereavement leave will not be taken from sick leave. The next five (5) days, if taken, will be taken from sick leave. If additional days are required beyond ten (10), the Superintendent needs to receive a statement from the teacher’s physician stating the it is not recommended that he/she return to work. The additional days utilized during this period of time will be paid up through the first ten (10) and deducted from sick leave. All other days beyond this will be considered Leave without Pay. Following the same guidelines as above, part-time teachers who work, on the average, 20-30 hours per week, shall receive the following amounts: Six (6) days total, the first three (3) shall not be taken from sick leave, however the next three (3), if used, will be taken from sick leave.

IMMEDIATE FAMILY BEREAVEMENT. The use of sick leave for bereavement purposes shall not exceed three (3) days for an employee’s spouse, child, parent, grandparents, siblings, grandchildren, step-parents, step-children, step-siblings, or a legal guardian or other persons who stand in the place of a parent (in loco parentis). The use of sick leave for bereavement purposes shall not exceed one (1) day for an employee’s brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter- in-law, son-in-law, grandparents-in-law, mother-in-law, and father-in-law.
IMMEDIATE FAMILY BEREAVEMENT. In the case of the death in the immediate family, consisting of spouse, son, daughter, father or mother, guardian, brother or sister and mother-in-law or father-in-law, grandchildren, stepchildren or stepparents, the employee shall be given paid leave of absence for the day of the funeral and four (4) scheduled working days which will consist of two (2) scheduled working days preceding the funeral provided he attends the funeral service or memorial service and two (2) scheduled working days after the funeral. When requested at time of death, one of the two scheduled working days preceding the funeral may be saved for interment in the following spring.

  • Immediate Family Immediate family includes husband, wife, child, stepchild, brother, brother-in-law, stepbrother, sister, sister-in-law, stepsister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any person serving as a parent, or who has served as a parent, or any other close person living in the same household as the employee.

  • Immediate family or household (1) The entitlement to use carer’s leave and compassionate leave in accordance with this clause is subject to the person being either: (a) a member of the employee’s immediate family; or (b) a member of the employee’s household.

  • Death in Immediate Family A regularly scheduled employee may be granted up to five days of leave of absence with pay by the Agency/Department Head because of death in the immediate family. An employee shall be allowed to take such leave within a four week period. For purposes of this subsection, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in the appendices), son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Entitlement to leave of absence under this subsection shall be only for all hours the employee would have been scheduled to work for those days granted, and shall be in addition to any other entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • Family Illness The start of a family leave for a serious health condition of a family member shall begin on the date requested by the employee or designated by Management.

  • Family Members Family Members shall mean, as applied to any individual, any parent, spouse, child, spouse of a child, brother or sister of the individual, and each trust created for the benefit of one or more of such Persons and each custodian of a property of one or more such Persons.

  • Children For the purposes of the Trust the children of the Grantor are as follows: _______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________

  • Immediate Family Defined Immediate family will be defined as father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, step children, step-parent, and any person domiciled and residing in the teacher’s home as a member of the teacher’s home as a member of the teacher’s family, and any person with whom the teacher lived for a substantial period as a child as if such person were the teacher’s parents.

  • Illness in the Immediate Family 10.1 A unit member may be granted up to four days’ absence per fiscal year with full pay because of serious illness in the immediate family of the unit member requiring the actual presence of that unit member.

  • Children/Grandchildren An employee may purchase life insurance in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) as a package for all eligible children/grandchildren (as defined in Section 2A2 and 2A3 of this Article). For a new employee, child/grandchild coverage requires evidence of insurability if application is made after the initial effective date of coverage as defined in this Article, Section 5C. An employee who becomes eligible for insurance may purchase child/grandchild coverage without evidence of insurability if application is made within thirty (30) days of the initial effective date as defined in this Article. Child/grandchild coverage commences fourteen (14) calendar days after birth.
