JURY DUTY AND APPEARANCES IN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS. The Board shall grant leave of absence with pay to any employee summoned for jury duty or subpoenaed to appear at any legal proceedings provided that the employee is not a party in the legal proceedings. An employee on such leave shall pay over to the Board only such sums received for jury duty or witness fees.

JURY DUTY AND APPEARANCES IN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS a. The Board shall grant leave of absence with pay to any employee summonsed for jury duty or required to attend any legal proceedings by reason of subpoena (except in regards to personal litigation). An employee on such leave shall pay to the Board any sums received for jury duty or witness fees, exclusive of travelling costs or meal allowances. b. Where an employee is required to attend legal proceedings in connection with the interpretation or application of this agreement, the Board shall grant leave with pay. c. Where the private affairs of an employee have otherwise occasioned an appearance in legal proceedings, a leave of absence up to three (3) days with full pay less the cost of a teacher-teaching-on-call shall be granted by the Board.

A teacher, upon written application to his/her respective supervisor, shall be granted a leave of absence with pay when summoned for jury duty or required to attend any legal proceedings by reason of subpoena. The written request must be received by the respective supervisor five (5) working days in advance of the leave of absence date unless such notice is impractical due to lateness of subpoena being received by the teacher. 2. Where a teacher is reasonably required to attend proceedings in connection with the interpretation or application of this agreement, the Board shall grant leave with pay. 3. A teacher, upon written application to his/her supervisor, shall be granted a leave of absence with pay where the private affairs of a teacher have otherwise occasioned an appearance in legal proceedings. A Teacher on such leave shall pay over to the District, any sums received for jury duty or witness fees, exclusive of parking costs, traveling costs or meal allowances.

Any fees or payments made to the teacher for such duties or services, exclusive of parking, travel, meals or child care expenses, must be remitted to the School District.

G.17.2 Where a teacher is reasonably required to attend proceedings in connection with the interpretation or application of this agreement, the Board shall grant leave at the cost of a teacher teaching on call.
