(ii) Sick leave credits shall be protected but shall not accumulate.

  • Leave of Absence With Pay 1. A leave of absence with pay shall be granted to any employee who serves on a jury or as a witness for the federal government, the State of Nevada, or a political subdivision thereof. The employee shall be paid his/her regular salary while on court leave and retain any witness or jury duty fees, when summoned for jury duty or serving as a witness in any case. When an employee, serving in his/her official capacity as a County employee and as part of his/her required duties, serves as a witness in any case, he shall not receive witness fees. Per diem and transportation costs may be paid by the requesting jurisdiction, considering such variables as whether or not the case is a criminal or civil matter, whether it is in State or out-of-state, the length of time the employee is required to stay away from the job and who receives ultimate benefit from the County employee’s testimony. Court leave shall not be charged to any employee’s annual leave balance. 2. When it is impractical for a registered voter to vote before or after his/her normal working hours, an employee will be granted sufficient time to vote.

  • Leave of Absence Without Pay (a) Full or part-time leave of absence without pay may be granted at the discretion of the Employer. Faculty members may apply for job-sharing under the provision for part-time leave of absence. Applications shall be made in writing to the administrator responsible. All applications will be dealt with promptly and will not be unreasonably denied, nor dealt with in a discriminatory manner. The reply to an application for leave will be in writing. Except in the case of leaves for short-term emergencies of thirty (30) days or less, the Employer may, at its discretion, require that the length of a leave coincide with the beginning or end of a semester or term of instruction. (b) Where a leave is granted, the faculty member's performance evaluation shall be extended accordingly. (c) No salary increment is payable for a period of leave of absence without pay unless the University President, upon written request from the faculty member concerned, decides the leave is spent in the activities relevant to the University curriculum. In this case, the faculty member will receive any salary adjustments for which he/she would normally be eligible. In the event that the University President judges that the activities are not relevant to the University curriculum, he/she will advise the faculty member as to the reasons for his/her decision in writing before the leave commences. (d) No benefits shall be payable by the Employer for faculty members on leave without pay, except as provided in this Agreement. For faculty members on part- time leave without pay, benefit premiums shall be payable by the Employer on a pro rata basis. If a faculty member proceeding on leave without pay makes a prior payment to the Employer of both the faculty member's share and the Employer's share (pro- rated, if applicable) of any or all of the following benefits, the Employer shall remit these payments to ensure continuous coverage: Life Insurance, Medical Services Plan of BC, Extended Health, Dental, Short and Long Term Disability and AD&D. (e) For leaves of longer than four (4) months, the faculty member, no later than four

  • Approved Leave of Absence With Pay During Vacation When an employee is qualified for bereavement leave, sick leave or any other approved leave with pay during her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. In the case of sick leave, this section shall only apply when the period of illness or injury is in excess of two (2) days and a note from a physician may be required. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work.

  • Return from Leave of Absence (a) Before a Nurse may return to work from a leave granted under Article 9.00, she or he must provide a minimum of four (4) weeks written notice of the specific date of his or her return to work, or such shorter time as mutually agreed. (b) Upon return from an approved Unpaid Leave of Absence, a Nurse shall be reinstated to her or his former position unless the position has been discontinued, in which case the Nurse shall be appointed to an equivalent position.   • LEAVE OF ABSENCE 12.01 Employees requesting leave of absence shall make written application to their Location Manager giving at least seven (7) working days· notice. The Company may, at its discretion, grant such leave of absence for a period of up to three (3) months provided the services of the employees are not immediately required and there is an employee available who has the qualifications to perform the work. Leave of absences or illness longer than five (5) working days will be posted as a temporary position. 12.06 An employee elected as a full-time representative of the Union shall be granted leave of absence without pay while so engaged. 12.07 Upon written request of the National Representative, Local President and/or Local Chairperson, employees delegated and attending general business of the Union shall be granted leave of absence without pay for that purpose. As much advance notice as possible will be given by the National Representative and/or Local Chairperson prior to the effective date of the requested leave of absence. The Company will pay lost time for regular scheduled work for all union leaves under this article to employees at their regular rate of pay and such rate of pay will be reimbursed by Unifor Local 195. 12.08 The name of an employee who is on authorized leave of absence shall be retained on the seniority list and shall continue to accumulate seniority. School bus drivers on an approved leave shall be returned to their scheduled work on the scheduled return date. 12.09 An employee wishing to return from leave of absence prior to the expiration of his approved period of leave must advise his Supervisor at least seven (7) days in advance of the date upon which he wishes to return to work. The Supervisor will, if such leave is due to illness, make every effort to change the work schedule to accommodate the returning employee, but if this is not possible, the employee shall return at the earliest possible date following the receipt of such notification by the Supervisor. If the leave were for other reasons, the employee will resume his duties at a time specified by the Company.

  • Union Leave of Absence An employee on an unpaid Union leave of absence shall have her wages, benefits and seniority continued by the Employer, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for the costs of such wages and benefits. Employees requesting leave under this article will provide the Employer with as much advance notice as possible of the dates of the leave. Where there are less than fifteen (15) regular employees at a workstation at the time the leave request is submitted, and subject to operational requirements, unpaid Union leave of absence will be granted to one employee for the purpose of conducting Union business. D) selected by the Union or its members as a delegate to attend the Provincial Bargaining Conference. E) selected by the Union or its members as a delegate to attend regional Bargaining Conference.

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.
