Leave. Every Employee shall receive a credit of six (6) hours of sick leave for each month of service, to a maximum of seventy (70) hours of sick leave per calendar year. The Employer and the Alliance agree that sick leave credits cannot be banked and accumulated from year to year. Each Employee shall be entitled to receive sick pay, at full salary, for any time lost by reason of illness or injury to the full extent of sick leave credits entitlement for that year in an Employee’s sick leave credit bank at the time of such absence, except for the Employee’s awarded compensation pursuant to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. When she legitimately ill, she may draw from the sick leave credits granted in this Collective Agreement, provided such credits are available. During the probation period, no sick leave benefit will be payable, but upon completion of the probationary period a full-time nurse will become eligible for the sick leave benefit. The benefit would date from the first day of the month of service, following the date probation was begun and one and a half days per month will be credited to the sick leave bank to a maximum of seventy sixty (7060) days. A nurse may be, at the option of the Employer, required to produce a doctor’s certificate for any illness. A nurse absenting herself account of personal illness must notify the Employer on the first (1st) day of that illness at least one (1) hour prior to the of the day tour, and at least two (2) hours prior to the of the evening and night tours. More advance notice will be given by the nurse whenever possible. Failure to provide such notice may result loss of sick leave benefits for that day of absence. Nurses who, after working a minimum of five (5) hours of their regularly scheduled tour are sent home for reasons of sickness will be paid their regular rate for the balance of that tour and no charge will be made against sick leave per calendar yearcredits. Leave. Every Employee (a) Each full-time staff member shall receive be allotted fifteen (15) fully compensated leave days per school year to be used at the employee’s personal discretion for personal illness, illness of an immediate family member, or any other personal reason. Time taken for personal reason, as opposed to illness, must be submitted at least one day in advance of the proposed absence, except in the event of an emergency that precludes such notice, and must be pre-approved by the Director. Taking leave time on the edge of vacations and weekends can diminish the value of these school days for our students, and should be done infrequently and in consultation with administrators and grade level teams. The Director’s decision to grant or deny a credit request for personal leave shall not be subject to the grievance or arbitration provisions of six this Agreement. (6b) hours For purposes of this provision, immediate family shall include a staff member’s parent, spouse, or child. A physician's note will be required for sick absences after four consecutive sick days, or following the use of ten sick days taken on an intermittent basis. Leave. Employees who are already covered by the Plan shall maintain their membership in the Plan in accordance with its terms and conditions and continue to make their share of monthly premium payments through payroll deduction. Any dispute which may arise concerning an employee's entitlement to long-term disability benefits, and which is not covered by the appeal mechanism provided for under the policy of insurance, may be the subject of grievance and arbitration under the provisions of this agreement. To qualify and be paid sick leave from credits accumulated, an employee must notify his supervisor or designate at least two hours prior to his scheduled starting time if on the day shift and four hours prior to his scheduled starting time if on the evening or night shift except in extenuating circumstances. The Hospital reserves the right to require proof of illness by medical certificate or such other form of proof as the Hospital may require before payment is made from accumulated sick leave credits. An employee who is returning to work after being absent due to illness must notify his supervisor or designate that he will be returning to work prior to the start of the shift he is returning to work on as follows: by hours if returning to work on the day shift the following day; by hours if returning to work the evening shift the same day: and by hours if returning to work the night shift commencing the same day. The foregoing applies to employees who are replaced when absent. In the case of employees who are not replaced when absent, departmental practice will apply with respect to notification of return to work.

Leave. Every Employee shall receive a credit The University sick leave plan provides employees with income while they are legitimately unable to work due to disability resulting accident or sickness. After completion of six probation period an employee will be credited with eight (6) 8) hours of sick leave for each calendar month in which worked a minimum of serviceeighty (80) hours. Seniority is defined as the length of continuous service with the Board and shall include service with the Board prior to the amalgamation of the Xxxxx County Roman Catholic Separate School Board and the Norfolk Roman Catholic Separate School Board. The Board shall maintain a seniority list by classificationshowing each employee's name, seniority, and job classification. In January of each year, an up-to-date seniority list shall be posted by the Board on its with security to bargaining unit members. An employee shall be considered to be on probationand will not have seniority standing until he or she has been employed for three (3) months from his or her last date of hire. Upon satisfactory completionof the probationary period an employee will be creditedwith seniority from last date of hire. An employee's service shall be terminated seniority lost in the event of: (a) Dismissal for just cause which is not reversed through grievance or arbitration; Retires or voluntarily resigns in writing and does not withdraw the resignation within one (1) working week; Absence without leave in excess of five (5)consecutively scheduled working days unless there is a reasonable excuse; After a lay off extending for twenty-four (24) months; and Failure to report for work within ten (10) working days after receipt of notice, by registered mail, to to work following a layoff unless through sickness or other justifiable cause. Any question as to the accuracy of the seniority list must be submitted by the Unionto the Manager of Human Resources or Designate, in writing, within thirty (30) working days of the posting of the list. In compiling the seniority list all ties shall be broken based on the following criteria in order. (a) total experience in that classificationwith the Board; total experience with the Board; total experience in the same job function with other Employers; by lot in a manner to be determined by the Board or Union. For the purpose of Article only, an employee who is absent from work due to illness, accident or approved leave of absence shall continue to accumulate seniority during the period of such an absence.

Leave. Every Employee shall receive The Hospital will assume total responsibility for providing and funding a credit of six (6) hours of short-term sick leave for each month plan at least equivalent to that described in the Hospitals of Ontario Disability Plan brochure. The Hospital will pay percent (75%) of the billed premium towards coverage of eligible employees under the long-term disability portion of the plan or an equivalent plan), the employee paying the balance of the billed premium through payroll deduction. For the purpose of transfer to the short-term portion of the disability program, employees on the payroll as of the effective date of the transfer with three months or more of service shall be deemed to have three months of service. For the purpose of transfer to the long term portion of the disability program, to a maximum of seventy employees will be credited with their actual service. Effective (70insert effective date) hours of the existing accumulating sick leave per calendar yearplan shall be terminated and any provisions relating to such plan shall be null and void except as to those provisions relating to payout of unused sick leave benefits which are specifically dealt with hereinafter. Where an Employee is absent on a payout provision existed under the former sick leave for three (3) consecutive scheduled days or moreplan in the Collective Agreement, the Employer will require a note from the Employees physician, dentist, or other health care provider which indicates that the Employee was unable to carry out her duties. Any unused sick leave credits not used at the end payout on termination of a calendar year will be forfeited. The number of days for which an Employee receives sick pay employment shall be deducted from the Employee’s cumulative sick leave credits. Sick leave may be taken, and accordingly deducted from sick leave credits, where sick leave is taken by an Employee for a that portion of a shift, in which circumstances the deduction will be made for each hour or portion thereof which the Employee was absent from work calculating the cumulative sick leave credits hourly. An Employee who is unable to report for duty by reason of illness or injury shall cause the Employee’s immediate supervisor to be notified as soon as reasonably practicable. Upon termination of an Employee’s employment, for whatever reason, any unused sick leave credits shall be forfeiteddollars under the former conditions relating to payout. Where a payout provision existed under the former sick leave plan the Collective Agreement, then the Employee shall repay the excess an employee who has accumulated sick leave credits so used and is prevented from working for the Hospital on account of an occupational illness or accident that is recognized by the Compensation Board as compensable within the meaning of the Workers' Compensation Act, the Hospital, on application from the employee, will supplement the award made by the Workers' Compensation Board for loss of wages to the Employer and the Employer shall be entitled to deduct the employee by such amount owing any final payment to the Employee. In the event an Employee is in receipt of Short Term Disability Benefits, all earned sick leave credits, overtime credits, designated paid holiday credits, vacation credits, and other lieu time credits, may, upon written request, be utilized by the Employee until exhausted, so that the Employee may continue to receive award of the Workers' Compensation Board for loss of wages, together with the supplementation of the Hospital, will equal one hundred percent (100%) of the Employee’s employee's net earnings to the limit of the employee's accumulated sick leave credits. Employees may utilize such sick leave credits while awaiting approval of a claim for Workers' Compensation. There shall be no pay deduction from an employee's regular wagescheduled shift when the employee has completed any portion of the shift prior to going on sick leave benefits or Workers' Compensation benefits. The Hospital further agrees to pay employees an amount equal to any loss of benefits under for the first two (2) days of the fourth and subsequent period of absence in any calendar year. Absences due to pregnancy related illness shall be considered as sick leave under the sick leave plan.

An employee may be required by the Employer to produce a Doc- tor’s certificate for any period of absence exceeding three working days for which sick leave is claimed and, if a certificate is not produced after such a request, the time absent from work will be deducted from the employee’s wages. Where the Employer has reason to believe an employee is abusing the sick leave privileges, his Department may issue him a directive that re- quires him to submit a medical certificate for any period of absence for which sick leave is claimed (including periods of less than three working days). An employee who is absent from work on account of sickness or accident who wishes to use his sick leave credits for such absence, must notify his immediate Supervisor as soon as possible. Where a deduction from salary is to be made pursuant to Clause hereof, the employee is to be so informed as soon as possible and the Employer deduction shall be entitled to deduct made, if possible, within thirty days of the amount owing any final payment to date, or the Employeelatest date, for which the deduction is made. In the event an Employee is in receipt of Short Term Disability Benefits, all earned An employee who has used up his sick leave credits, overtime credits, designated paid holiday credits, vacation credits, and other lieu time credits, may, upon written request, may be utilized granted advanced sick leave without loss of pay by the Employee until exhausted, so that Deputy Head for a period up to fifteen days and a deduction for such advanced sick leave shall be made from any credits subsequently accumulated by the Employee may continue to receive one hundred percent (100%) of the Employee’s regular wageemployee.
