Legal Research. Agency may reimburse Outside Counsel for its reasonable and necessary expenses relating to legal research, including online legal research.

Legal Research. Where legal research is contracted to outside counsel, the terms of such contracting will be discussed prior to it taking place with the Union and it is agreed that the maximum length of such contracts will be three months unless otherwise mutually agreed to between the Parties. It is the intention of the BCGEU to minimize the contracting out of legal research. The past practise of contracting out work to outside advocates will continue to prevail at some levels, insofar as the contracting out does not reduce the current staffing levels or violate the provisions of Article 13.

Legal Research. The Law Firm conducts it's legal research on the client's behalf through on-line access to the Lexis-Nexis Legal Library. The Law Firm will charge the client a $25.00 Library Access Fee each time it accesses the Lexis Legal Library on Client's behalf, with regard to New Jersey legal authorities. In the event it is necessary in the Firm's representation of the client, in it's discretion, to utilize Lexis-Nexis to verify the legal issue in question using Xxxxxxx'x Citation Service or research outside New Jersey authorities, the Lexis on-line charges (presently $4.50/min.) shall be billed to the client as an additional cost. No cost in this regard shall be incurred beyond $100.00 without the client's written permission.
Legal Research. It is frequently necessary to investigate facts or pursue legal theories. CMHA will be billed for all hours reasonably expended on its behalf. Contractor shall obtain prior authorization for more than eight (8) hours of legal research on a single issue. Copies of memoranda prepared as a result of any research charged to CMHA shall be promptly provided to CMHA. Research memoranda should be accurate, organized and readily comprehensible.

Defense Counsel are selected for their expertise in the areas of general, professional, and employment practices liability and the District does not, therefore, expect to be billed for basic research in the practice area. A copy of each memorandum of legal research should be forwarded to the Case Monitor upon completion.
