LEVEL I PART-TIME APPOINTMENTS. 8.1.1. A “Level I Part-time Appointment” is an appointment issued by the Board or its Designee in order to meet the temporary needs of the system or to signify an explicitly temporary assignment involving 8 contact/credit hours or fewer for teaching employees or fewer than 20 hours per week for non-teaching employees. Level I Part-time Appointments are not tenure track appointments. There is no limit upon the number of Level I Part-time Appointments a Faculty Member may be granted. The offer of employment is made only by written contract executed by the President and may be subject to ratification by the Board. Each college shall make a good faith effort to inform part-time members of their employment at the earliest reasonable opportunity. Where a part-time lecturer has taught eighteen (18) contact/credit hours at a particular college and has not received an unsatisfactory evaluation during the initial eighteen (18) contact/credit hours, he/she shall be placed and shall remain in the part-time lecturer pool. Members shall be notified of class cancellations before classes begin. Part time bargaining unit members shall be compensated $300.00 for any course that is canceled and/or assigned to a full-time bargaining unit member within seven (7) days prior to the beginning of the first day of classes.
