Policy Grievance – Employer Grievance The Employer may institute a grievance alleging a general misinterpretation or violation by the Union or any employee by filing a written grievance with the Bargaining Unit President, with a copy to the Labour Relations Officer within twenty (20) days after the circumstances have occurred. A meeting will be held between the parties within ten (10) days. The Union shall reply within ten (10) days after the meeting, and failing settlement, the matter may be referred to arbitration.
Separate Grievance File All documents, communications and records dealing with the processing of a grievance shall be filed in a separate grievance file and shall not be kept in the personnel file of any of the participants.
Grievance File Records involving the processing of an employee's grievance, such as the grievance form, step appeals/responses, and settlement documents, will be kept in a file separate from the employee’s personnel file. It is not the intent of this section to exclude from the employee's personnel file final disciplinary action documents, including those that result from a settlement agreement.
Grievance Commissioner System This is to confirm the discussion of the parties during collective bargaining that they are committed to encouraging early discussion and resolution of labour relations issues at the local level and seek to resolve grievances in a timely and cost efficient manner. To that end, this is to confirm that pursuant to Article 8, the parties agree that the Employer and Union at individual nursing homes may agree to utilize the following process in order to resolve a particular grievance through the utilization of a joint mediation-arbitration procedure:

Grievance Hearings Each grievance hearing will be conducted by the designated administrator to determine what, if any, violation of this Agreement has occurred. Hearings will be attended by the grievant, the Hearing officer, and up to two (2) additional representatives designated by the parties respective sides. The parties may request and mutually agree that additional witnesses/representatives may attend. Witnesses will be permitted to attend hearings in those instances when the grievant and/or the Union need information more specific than that available to the grievant or Union. The parties agree that the University will schedule grievance hearings no later than two (2) hours prior to the end of the grievant’s and/or Union representative’s work shift, and the grievant will be released from duty early enough to be able to attend the grievance hearing as scheduled. If such hearings extend beyond the end of the normal work schedule of any bargaining unit member(s), the bargaining unit member(s) present at the grievance hearing will not be paid for any time spent after the end of the work schedule. Grievance hearings for bargaining unit members whose work schedules are other than the standard day shift will be scheduled at mutually convenient times. A “class action” grievance is when more than one (1) employee files a grievance over the same alleged violation, misapplication and/or misinterpretation of the terms of the Agreement. When such occurs the grievant or the Union will attempt to identify the bargaining unit members initially involved in the class action grievance, or will provide a description of the class in sufficient detail to enable the University to investigate the grievance. In class action grievances no more than one (1) grievant may attend the hearings.
Grievance Forms Each grievance, request for review, and notice of arbitration must be submitted in writing on the appropriate form attached as Appendices C, D and E to this Agreement and shall be signed by the grievant. All grievance forms shall be dated when the grievance is received. If there is difficulty in meeting any time limit, the UFF representative may sign such documents for the grievant; however, grievant's signature shall be provided prior to the Step 2 meeting.
Grievance Hearing Within four (4) working days after the receipt of the written grievance, the Superintendent shall arrange and meet with the Union Representative for a hearing of the grievance.
Contractor’s Federal Employment Verification Certification The Contractor is registered with, authorized to use, is using and will continue to use, the federal work authorization program throughout the term of the contract, and holds the following authorization: User Identification Number: Date of Authorization: Date WITNESSETH, that the Contractor and the Owner, for the consideration set forth herein, the adequacy and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged by each party, agree as follows:
Initiation of Grievance When a dispute arises, an attempt shall be made by the Faculty Member to settle the grievance with the appropriate management representative. Failing a satisfactory solution, the Faculty Association shall initiate an informal meeting between the Grievor, a Faculty Association representative and the relevant Xxxx or the administrative supervisor in the case of a Librarian or Counsellor within ten working days after the situation leading to the grievance has arisen or within ten working days from the time the Faculty Member should reasonably have known of the occurrence of the situation giving rise to the grievance.
