Lodge Non-Disciplinary Grievances. The Lodge recognizes the importance of maintaining good communications and a working relationship between management and its members. As such, the Lodge agrees that prior to filing any grievance, excluding those involving discipline the Lodge or their designee(s) shall meet with the Chief or their designee to attempt to resolve the issues or dispute(s) informally to the satisfaction of all parties. The Lodge and the City agree that this procedure does not prevent a grievance from being filed and that time limits immediately pause upon request for an informal meeting and remains stayed until either party decides the informal resolution process has been unsuccessful. The timelines set forth in the grievance procedure shall begin to run upon either party providing written notice to the other party that the informal grievance process has ended. The Lodge shall have seven (7) days after either parties’ written notification ending the informal resolution process to present a written grievance at Step 2 of the formal grievance procedure. Nothing in the section precludes an aggrieved member from filing a grievance subject to his or her rights under Section 5.2 of the Agreement.
