Memorandum Note. Gives the Union greater ability to challenge to police the scheduling of less preferable shifts. Amend Article 11.12 In scheduling part-time employees in a department the most available part-time hours of work on a weekly basis shall be assigned to such employees within the classification within the department on the basis of seniority, subject to their availability status and provided the employee has the qualification and ability to handle the work to be performed in a competent manner.
Memorandum Note. Language reflects the current practice. Old language was confusing.
Memorandum Note. Clarifies how the four hour gap works with the changes to scheduling. New Article 11.14: Due to business needs, employees may be required to temporarily perform work outside of their department from time to time but not to the extent that it replaces a call-in shift when a full shift is available.
Memorandum Note. Employees may be asked to work in another department for short periods of time. Will not prevent call-ins.
Memorandum Note. Improvement on how General Holiday pay determined for members working low amounts of hours.
Memorandum Note. Update to language to reflect current legislation.
Memorandum Note. On the fourth (4) Sunday after ratification, a seniority date will be provided to all pre ratification employees based on a calculation that takes into account their current seniority hours earned to date. This one time calculation will convert your seniority hours into a seniority date, (same process as part time to full time) which will be maintained for the life of your employment. Your current seniority ranking based on your seniority hours will be maintained. For new hires, your seniority date will be the same as your hire date. For clarity, going forward, should there be multiple new employees within the same scheduling group with the same hire date, then sorting will occur in alphabetical order.
