General Holiday Pay. 10.01 The Company shall give to each employee a holiday with pay on each of the recognized General Holidays. For each such holiday an employee shall be paid not less than the equivalent of the wages he would have earned at his classified rate of pay for his normal hours of work. An employee shall receive such holiday pay even if the holiday falls on a Saturday, Sunday or on an employee's weekly days off. The recognized General Holidays shall be: New Year's Day Good Friday Labour Day Empire Day Dominion Day Christmas Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day 3rd Monday in Feb. Boxing Day BC Day and any such day as may be declared a public holiday by the Federal, Provincial or Local Municipal Government. When a General Holiday falls on a Saturday or on a Sunday or on an employee's weekly day off, then the next work day shall be observed as the holiday. If Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a Saturday and on a Sunday respectively, or on an employee's weekly days off, then the next two (2) work days shall be observed as holidays.

General Holiday Pay. 18.1. When a general holiday(s) falls on a Saturday and/or a Sunday, non-shift employees shall receive the next working day(s) following the general holiday in lieu. 18.2. All permanent shift employees shall receive general holiday pay as a percentage of their basic rate of pay in each bi-weekly pay period calculated as follows: (18 hours X 12 General Holidays / 2080 Hours = 10.38%). 18.2.1. All temporary shift employees shall be paid as a percentage of their basic rate of pay in each bi-weekly pay period calculated as follows: (12 hours X 12 General Holidays / 2080 Hours = 6.923%). 18.2.2. All temporary shift employees who work on a general holiday shall also receive an additional one-half times (.5x) their basic rate of pay for each regular hour worked on the general holiday. 18.3. If a general holiday falls on a day that would normally have been a day of work for a non- shift employee and the employee does not work on the general holiday, the city must pay the employee general holiday pay that is at least equal to the regular pay the employee would have received if he had worked that day. 18.4. For the purposes of determining hours worked, hours shall be deemed to mean all hours actually worked between the period 00:00 hours and 24:00 hours on the actual day of the general holiday.

If Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a Saturday and on a Sunday respectively, or on an employee's weekly days off, then the next two (2) work days shall be observed as holidays. (b) Without limiting the general application of sub-section (a) of this section, but subject to the provisos contained herein, General Holiday pay provisions will prevail: (i) where an employee is off work due to any circumstances for which he is eligible to receive compensation under the Workers' Compensation Act, provided such an employee has earned wages from the Company during the sixty (60) calendar days immediately preceding the holiday; (ii) where an employee is off work due to sickness, quarantine or an accident provided such an employee has earned wages from the Company during the sixty (60) calendar days immediately preceding the holiday. If the Company so requests, a doctor's certificate shall be submitted as proof of disability; (iii) where an employee is laid-off or is on an approved leave of absence provided such an employee has earned wages from the Company during the two (2) calendar weeks immediately preceding the week in which the holiday occurs; (iv) where an employee is off work due to a death in the immediate family or is acting as a juror or witness as provided elsewhere in this Agreement. 2. When a General Holiday falls within an employee's scheduled vacation, he shall receive the pay of a normal shift for the holiday in addition to his vacation pay, or a day off with pay in conjunction with his vacation. 3. General Holiday Pay. 10.01 The General Holidays referred to in this Article are as follows: New Year's Day Canada Day Remembrance Day Good Friday Labour Day Christmas Day Victoria Day Thanksgiving Day Boxing Day Easter Monday British Columbia Day Plus any other legal holiday introduced by the Government of Canada. 10.02 For each General Holiday above, every employee shall be entitled to: (a) A normal day's pay for each such holiday to be paid on the next regular pay period, OR (b) one day off with pay for each such holiday, to be taken in conjunction with his next annual vacation period, OR (c) one day's normal pay for each such holiday to be taken upon cessation of employment with the Company for any reason. The choice between (a) and (c) above to be determined by which comes sooner - cessation of work or annual vacation. 10.03 If a General Holiday falls in an employee's scheduled vacation period, then an extra day's pay shall be added to such an employee's vacation pay or an extra day off with pay shall be given to such an employee in conjunction with his vacation, the above to be at the option of the employee concerned. 10.04 Except in cases of emergency or due to circumstances clearly beyond the control of the Company, employees shall not be required to work on the three (3) day period consisting of December 24th, 25th and 26th. Where due to the exceptions noted above employees are required to work all or any part of this three (3) day period they shall not be required to work during the three (3) day period consisting of December 31st, January 1st and 2nd.

General Holiday Pay. 6.01 The following days shall be considered holidays for which regular, full-time employees shall suffer no reduction in pay due to the closing of the Company's plant on said days: New Year's Day National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Xxxxx Xxxx Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Remembrance Day Canada Day Christmas Day Xxxxx Xxx Day Boxing Day or any other day or portion of a day designated by the Provincial or Federal Government, (a) provided that an employee was not voluntarily absent from work on the scheduled work day prior to or following such holiday, (b) and provided an employee reports to work for the scheduled shift if required to work on the general holiday, except for bona fide illness. When any of the above General Holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday, the General Holiday or the day substituted by the Government shall be observed. When any General Holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday will become the substituted day for the holiday. When any General Holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday will become the substituted day for the holiday. 6.02 Employees required to work on General Holidays, as set forth in Article 6.01, shall be paid the regular, hourly rate they would have received had they not worked, plus an additional amount of one and one-half (1½X) times the employee's hourly rate. 6.03 Part-time employees shall receive General Holiday pay in the amount equal to five (5%) per cent of their gross wages (excluding overtime and previous year’s vacation pay) in the four (4) week period immediately preceding the General Holiday. In order for part-time employees to qualify for General Holiday pay, said employee must not have been voluntarily absent from work on the scheduled work day prior to or following such holiday except for bona fide illness. 6.04 When any of the holidays as provided for in Article 6.01 fall on a full- time employee's regular assigned day off, said employee will be assigned another day off duty, the time of same to be by mutual agreement between the employee and the Company, or in lieu thereof, an extra day's pay may be given, if mutually agreed to between the employee and the Company. 6.05 Employees working permanently on a shift of hours that qualify the employee for night shift premium shall receive said premium on general holiday pay. 6.06 Any employee called in to work on a General Holiday shall be guaranteed not less than six (6) hours' pay.
