Mentor Teacher Leave. Mentor teachers are an integral part of a non-tenured teacher’s development. Mentors will be assigned to all non-tenured teaching personnel and remain in that role until the teacher receives tenure. The roles and responsibilities of a Mentor Teacher will be outlined in a plan that is agreed upon by the administration and the BEA. Teachers who agree to serve as a Mentor Teacher for a new teacher in the system shall be granted one day of leave time for each year that they fulfill the requirements of being a mentor teacher. These days are separate from the personal leave days.
