Merit Salary Increase. Employees shall be eligible for consideration for merit salary increases following:
A. Completion of the initial twelve (12) months of service.
B. Completion of six (6) months of service following promotion.
C. Annual periods after (A) or (B) above until the employee has reached the top of the salary range.

Merit salary increases shall be made upon recommendation of the employee's immediate supervisor and approval of the appointing authority. The immediate supervisor shall give written notice to an employee of withholding of a merit salary increase prior to the eligibility date, including a statement of the reason(s) it is being withheld.
Merit Salary Increase. Employees shall be eligible for a merit salary increase on their merit increase date following:
a. Completion of the initial twelve (12) months of service.
b. Completion of a trial service following promotion.
c. Annual periods after (a) or (b) above until the employee has reached the top of the salary range. The immediate supervisor shall give written notice to an employee of withholding of a merit salary increase prior to the eligibility date, including a statement of the reason(s) it is being withheld. An employee may use the grievance procedure outlined in Article 13 if an annual merit increase is withheld.
Merit Salary Increase. Unless the employee has received a five "5" rating, employees shall be eligible for merit salary increases upon:
a. Completion of the initial twelve (12) months of service.
b. Completion of a trial service following promotion.
c. Annual periods after (a) or (b) above until the employee has reached the top of the salary range. In cases of employees with a "5" rating, merit salary increases shall be made upon recommendation of the employee's immediate supervisor and approval of the appointing authority. The immediate supervisor shall give written notice to an employee of withholding of a merit salary increase at least fifteen (15) days prior to the eligibility date, including a statement of the reason(s) it is being withheld. An employee may grieve the withholding of an annual merit increase.
Merit Salary Increase. Salary eligibility date is defined as the date an employee is eligible for an annual performance pay increase. The salary eligibility date is computed from the date of hire. Employees shall be eligible for annual performance pay increases on the employees’ salary eligibility date provided the employee is not at the top step of the salary range of the employees’ classification. The employee may be denied the annual performance pay increase if there has been serious performance or attendance problem during the review period. Denials are subject to review within six (6) months and if appropriate the increase shall be given to the employee at that time without effect on their salary eligibility date. Denials may be grieved under the Provisions of Article 12.
