Mid-Elevation Sample Clauses

Mid-Elevation. The pastures in the mid-elevation area are typically grazed May through October. Cattle are generally in a pasture between one to three weeks. Each year 20% to 30% of the pastures in the mid-elevation area receive a full year of rest from grazing, providing complete vegetative growing season rest and recovery. Pastures, on average, receive a full year rest from grazing at least once in a five-year cycle. Season of use (grazing timing) is varied from year to year. During a five-year cycle, a typical mid-elevation pasture is grazed two to three years when grass is actively growing (May through mid-July), grazed at least one year during vegetative dormancy (before May or after mid-July), and rested one year. These practices increase plant health, forage for cattle and elk, nesting/brood rearing food, and habitat for GSG. Most of these pastures, if grazed prior to mid- June, exhibit substantial re-growth of herbaceous vegetation by mid-July, prolonging the availability of green, herbaceous forage later into the season for the Covered Species and other species of wildlife. In order to maintain a mix of brush-dominated patches interspersed with herbaceous dominated patches, various mechanical, chemical and biological vegetation treatments have been used in selected portions of the mid-elevation area pastures to increase herbaceous forage by decreasing sagebrush toward achieving an overall balance of vegetative types beneficial to GSG for lekking, nesting and brood rearing. DLL’s goal has been to provide herbaceous forage for livestock and other wildlife (including the Covered Species) while maintaining adequate sagebrush cover in important winter, nesting, and brood-rearing habitat areas for GSG. Treatments to create seral diversity are generally implemented at elevations above 6,500 feet (Table 3). Treatments were undertaken, primarily in the mid-elevation area, to increase the amount and diversity of herbaceous forage, often by thinning dense (greater than 20% shrub cover) stands of Wyoming or basin big sagebrush and sometimes planting desired species including some native species in several cases. Treatment methods included disking and planting a mix of grasses, forbs, and shrubs, or brush thinning by fire, sheep browsing, chemical (Tebuthiron-‘Spike‘), or mechanical (Xxxxxx aerator) as a means to release existing native herbaceous vegetation. Monitoring suggests treatments implemented below 6,500 feet in elevation or on shallow soils resulted in marginal for...

  • Provisioning Line Splitting and Splitter Space 3.8.1 The Data LEC, Voice CLEC or BellSouth may provide the splitter. When EZ Phone or its authorized agent owns the splitter, Line Splitting requires the following: a non-designed analog Loop from the serving wire center to the NID at the End User’s location; a collocation cross connection connecting the Loop to the collocation space; a second collocation cross connection from the collocation space connected to a voice port; the high frequency spectrum line activation, and a splitter. The Loop and port cannot be a Loop and port combination (i.e. UNE-P), but must be individual stand-alone Network Elements. When BellSouth owns the splitter, Line Splitting requires the following: a non designed analog Loop from the serving wire center to the NID at the End User’s location with CFA and splitter port assignments, and a collocation cross connection from the collocation space connected to a voice port.
