Normal and Overtime Hours and Work Schedules. 3.1 “10 HOURS/40 MINUTES” WORK SCHEDULE - The work period for all patrol employees including probationary employees not at the academy, shall be five days of 10 hr. 40 minutes, four days off, 5 days of 10 hr. 40 minutes, four days off, 5 days of 10 hr. 40 minutes on, and 5 days off. Time worked in excess of 10.7 hours per day shall be compensated at the rate of time and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay. All time worked in excess of the normal or regularly assigned work week shall be compensated at the overtime rate of time and one-half, provided, that where shift scheduling on the commencement of a new work period requires consecutive duty shifts over 5, the overtime rate of time and one-half shall be applied only to consecutive duty shifts in excess of 8. However, if consecutive duty shifts in excess of 8 result because of an individual's choice through shift bidding, overtime pay shall not be paid. Escape Clause: Upon 30 days' notice, the Police Chief may return operations to the traditional “5 Day /8 Hour Day” work week if the loss of budgetary authorization of 4 full time equivalent (FTE) patrol positions at Grade 29 – Patrol Officer or Grade 31 Police Corporal below the current 40 authorized patrol positions at Grade 29 – Patrol Officer and Grade 31 – Police Corporal. Upon restoration of staffing numbers to 40, such 10 hour/40 minute work schedule will resume. NOTE: Some articles in this contract have been modified for the 10/40s schedule. Should the 10/40s schedule be discontinued and the Police Chief return Patrol to a 5/8s schedule during the term of this agreement, affected articles will revert to previous contract language.   • HOURS AND WORK SCHEDULES 1. The basic department, agency or other operational unit work schedules and practices, including work schedules or practices peculiar to particular classes, in effect on the effective date of this Agreement, shall not be changed without the employer informing MSEA-SEIU in advance and negotiating the impact of such changes, if requested, on the affected employees. Negotiations shall occur no longer than a thirty (30) day period prior to the implementation of the change. If the parties have not reached agreement within the thirty (30) day period, the obligation to bargain shall continue.

  • HOURS AND OVERTIME 3:1 A workweek is defined as seven (7) consecutive calendar days, from Saturday midnight to Saturday midnight. The basic workweek shall consist of five (5) workdays of eight (8) hours each and shall begin Monday and run through Friday, except when a job other than for a public utility is to be done on Saturday, then the Company may assign another day as a non-workday and Saturdays becomes a workday in the basic workweek. An extended workweek shall begin at starting time Monday and continue until the next Monday starting time. The regular hours of work for all employees shall be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with an unpaid meal period of thirty (30) minutes which normally will be from 12:00 noon to 12:30 p.m. provided, however, that the regular lunch period may be advance or delayed an hour or less when work must necessarily be performed during the regular lunch period. Such a change in the lunch period shall not be deemed to require the payment of overtime. The regular hours of work may be changed by the Company at the request or direction of the public utility or governmental authorities, and by mutual agreement between the Company and the Union. The Company may change the start times by 30 minutes in either direction of the regular start time to meet the operational need without union approval. Such a change in the regular hours of work shall not be deemed to require the payment of overtime.

  • WORK WEEK AND OVERTIME Section 1. The normal work week will consist of forty (40) hours. Department management will establish the work week and hours of work best suited to meet the needs of the Department and provide superior service to the community. Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as a guarantee or limitation of the number of hours to be worked per week.

  • Normal Work Schedule 130. Compensation fixed herein on a per diem basis are for a normal eight-hour work day; and on a bi-weekly basis for a bi-weekly period of service consisting of normal work schedules.
