Partial Paid and Unpaid Training. Employees may request a leave of absence to take educational courses related to their employment and employees can apply for the Employer’s Education Assistance Program. In-service training will include definitions of commonly encountered infectious processes, as well as precautions (standards, contact, airborne, blood borne, cytotoxin) to be observed, personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning, and handling procedures concerning patient/resident care, patient/resident environment and patient/resident belongings and articles of use.

The Labour Management Committee may, as required, review trends in training programs for the purposes of evaluating potential employee needs. Posting of Training Opportunity When the Employer conducts a compulsory training course pertaining to Stadium operations, which certain designated employees are required to attend, and the employees so required do not fill all of the spaces available in such course, with the result that the Employer elects to fill such available spaces with additional employees on a voluntary basis, the Employer shall post notice of this voluntary training opportunity as far in advance as operationally possible. If more than the required number of employees volunteer for such training, the Employer shall fill the available spaces on the basis of seniority, in the following order of preference from among those who apply: Firstly, full-time employees in the pertinent part-time and employees in the pertinent then full-time employees in other classifications, then part-time and employees in other classifications. Voluntary training for part-time and employees under this section shall be unpaid. Full-time employees who volunteer for training under this section shall not be paid while so doing, including the payment of overtime, when the training takes place at a time when the employee would not otherwise be at work. Employees who commit to attend training sessions under this section and who fail to attend such training shall not be eligible for training opportunities under subsection until all other employees on the seniority list, who volunteer for training, have been accommodated. This restriction shall apply for a maximum period of twelve (12) months following the failure to attend.

  • Violation; liability for unpaid wages; liquidated damages In the event of any violation of the clause set forth in paragraph (1.) of this section, the contractor and any subcontractor responsible therefor shall be liable for the unpaid wages. In addition, such contractor and subcontractor shall be liable to the United States (in the case of work done under contract for the District of Columbia or a territory, to such District or to such territory), for liquidated damages. Such liquidated damages shall be computed with respect to each individual laborer or mechanic, including watchmen and guards, employed in violation of the clause set forth in paragraph (1.) of this section, in the sum of $10 for each calendar day on which such individual was required or permitted to work in excess of the standard workweek of forty hours without payment of the overtime wages required by the clause set forth in paragraph (1.) of this section.
