Requests or Use of Leave. It is the County's policy to approve all requests for leave in a fair and equitable manner, consistent with Departmental staffing policies and procedures. Inappropriate requests or use of leave may result in such leave being denied, or the leave may be deemed as unauthorized. All annual leave must be taken in increments of, a day shift consisting of ten (10) hours, night shift consisting of fourteen (14) hours, or a full scheduled shift of twenty-four (24) hours. Day shift hours are 0900-1900. Night shift hours are 1900-0900. 19.1.1 Scheduled leave for the purposes of this article is: Annual Leave, Personal Leave, Accrued Holiday Leave, and Administrative Leave. 19.1.1.1 Leave requested after the vacation bid article 13.6 CBA will be approved on a first come first serve basis with accordance to the staffing guidelines. All leave must be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to requested leave. Any leave requested after the 24 hour window must be approved by the Staffing designee. If the leave that has been requested will cause a force hire, that leave will not be approved.

  • Abuse of Leave If it is found that a leave is not actually being used for the purpose for which it was granted, the Employer may cancel the leave and direct the employee to report for work by giving written notice to the employee.

  • Use of Leave An employee does not need to use this leave entitlement in one block. Leave can be taken intermittently or on a reduced leave schedule when medically necessary. Employees must make reasonable efforts to schedule leave for planned medical treatment so as not to unduly disrupt the employer’s operations. Leave due to qualifying exigencies may also be taken on an intermittent basis.

  • Requests for Leave Except as provided under Section B.3., Family Care/Medical Leave Notification, requests for leaves of absence and extensions, with or without pay, shall be submitted in writing to the University. Such requests shall be submitted sufficiently in advance of the requested leave date to provide the University time to assess the operational impact of granting the request. All requests for leaves of absence shall contain the requested beginning and end date of the leave, and any additional information as required.

The pregnancy leave of an employee who is not entitled to take parental leave ends on the later of the day that is seventeen weeks after the pregnancy leave began or the day that is six weeks after the birth, still-birth or miscarriage.

  • Application for Leave Any request for a leave of absence shall be submitted in writing by the employee to the Employer or designee. The request shall state the reason the leave of absence is being requested and the length of time off the employee desires. Authorization for a leave of absence shall be furnished to the employee by the Employer or designee, and it shall be in writing.

  • Request for Leave At any time, employees may request the use of short-term leave (annual leave, compensatory time use, or personal leave). Such request shall be submitted on the appropriate form and approved or denied on the form within one week of submission to the appropriate authority (practices of shorter time periods will be maintained) except that current practices concerning emergency leave requests shall be maintained. Requests will not be denied unreasonably. The issue of more employees requesting the use of short-term leave than can be granted because of operational needs shall be resolved at the LMC. The Employer shall not request the reasons for the use of earned leave other than sick leave as permitted by Article 12. All leave may be used in tenth of an hour increments provided, however that use of personal leave to cover tardiness related absences shall not serve as a bar or defense to disciplinary action.
