Retirement Rights. Employees who are granted military leave may, under conditions provided in the Military Code (5l P.L. 7306) and Chapter 43, Part III of Title 38 United States Code and in accordance with procedures prescribed by the State Employees' Retirement Board and the Public School Employees' Retirement Board, choose either to continue or discontinue making regular payments into their retirement accounts.

Retirement Rights teachers will participate in the State Teacher’s Retirement System (STRS) as per Education Code 8360. Should the Education Code be deleted, modified or changed by law or court action this section will be re-opened for negotiation.

Upon reaching the age of eligibility for Medicare, and if Medicare eligible, the employee may participate in the Board’s Medicare supplement program by paying the full premium cost. Information relative to specific health insurance benefits and limitations will be updated regularly and contained in the SPD. In the event there is a conflict between the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement and the SPD, the District's SPD shall control.
