Root Pruning. 1. To minimize future damage to public sidewalks, curbs and gutter, County may use this Contract for root pruning of trees. Root pruning work will be specified on a list specifying street address and location as well as identify root pruning along sidewalk or curb. Contractor shall be responsible for contacting Underground Service Alert (USA) at (000) 000-0000 for locating of underground utilities prior to root pruning operations.
2. Roots shall be pruned immediately adjacent to edge of sidewalk or curb or other improvement. Root pruning cuts shall be 4” wide, 16” deep as measured from top of sidewalk, curb or adjacent improvement and extend 8’ in each direction from centerline of tree (16’ total length).
3. Root pruning equipment shall be specifically designed for this purpose with cutting teeth sharpened adequately to sever roots in a clean manner and equipped with padded tracks or rubber tires to prevent scraping or marking of sidewalks.
4. All cuts shall be backfilled immediately upon completion of root pruning at each location. Backfill material shall consist of dirt and/or mulch from root pruning and shall be free from rocks. All debris generated by these operations will be immediately removed from site and properly disposed of outside right-of-way.
5. Contractor shall repair or replace all utility service connections or sprinkler systems with right-of-way which are damaged or removed as a result of root pruning operations. Repairs shall be implemented immediately and completed by end of next working day. Repairs and replacements will be at least equal to existing improvement and shall match them in finish and dimensions.
6. Full compensation for conforming to requirements of Root Pruning includes:
a) Contacting USA
b) Backfilling and compacting root pruning mulch
c) Repairing or replacing damaged utility service connections or sprinkler systems
d) Cleanup, removal and disposal of debris and trimmings
e) Furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals necessary to perform work will be considered as included in Contract unit price bid per each in accordance with these Specifications and no additional compensation will be allowed therefore.

Root Pruning i. The Proposer shall use clean, sharp pruning tools with metal cutting blades. If pruning a diseased tree, Proposer shall disinfect pruning tools by dipping tools into a 10% bleach solution or wiping with a disinfectant spray, before moving on to non-diseased roots.
ii. The Proposer shall remove adventitious roots that have grown into soil and/or mulch above soil grade.
iii. Pruning cuts are to be clean and smooth with no rough or torn wood or bark remaining.
iv. The Proposer shall dispose of any debris generated during pruning operations.
Root Pruning. 2.1 Root pruning is defined as the practice of removing a portion of a tree's root system.
2.2 The purpose of root pruning is to remove roots that have caused or are likely to cause conflicts with infrastructure elements from trees that are managed by the Parks Division that are growing on a City road allowance, and are part of the Division boulevard tree management program.
2.3 Root pruning work will only be done by an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist.
2.4 Advise vehicle owners about relocating parked vehicles to prevent damage to private property.
2.5 Care and attention will be observed to avoid damage to private property such as irrigation systems, landscape features, nightscape elements etc. The roots will be severed using a cutting device such as a Vermeer RC14 attachment to a skid steer (or City approved equivalent) that cuts roots cleanly at the intended point to promote callus formation and wound closure.
2.6 A xxxxx grinder may be used to remove large portions of roots or as a trenching device. However, all final root cuts must be executed with the RC14 attachment (or City approved equivalent).
2.7 Care should be taken to avoid bending or breaking roots; and
2.8 When appropriate, attempts should be made to direct the growth of the remaining roots downward or away from infrastructure.
2.9 Shaving surface roots shall not be attempted unless specified by the City.
2.10 All trenches and exposed roots will be backfilled immediately to prevent cut roots from drying out.
2.11 All spoil will be removed from the site and disposed of by the Contractor.
Root Pruning. A. Avoid cutting surface roots whenever possible. At any location where roots need to be disturbed or cut, contact the owner representative to review prior to any disturbance or cutting.
Root Pruning. Do not cut main lateral roots or taproots; cut only smaller roots that interfere with installation of utilities. Cut roots with sharp pruning instruments; do not break or chop.
Root Pruning. In the right circumstances, root pruning is a valuable and necessary service, but it might pose a risk to the health and structural integrity of trees. To limit that risk, Xxxxxxxx Tree Experts performs root pruning to industry standards, but the Client acknowledges that the health and structural integrity of trees within the Scope of Work might nevertheless be adversely affected by any root pruning performed as part of the Work. Xxxxxxxx Tree Experts shall assist the Client in understanding the risks involved before opting for root pruning, but the Client will be responsible for deciding to proceed with root pruning.
Root Pruning. Prior to excavation, Developer will seek a tree professional to cut any roots extending beyond the property line onto or from the Neighbors property.
Root Pruning. This will only be carried out where roots of individual trees have been damaged, are raising footways or where root action has been implicated in an insurance claim. Individual trees to be root pruned will be agreed on site with the Authorised Officer in each case. Final cuts will be made cleanly into sound tissue. Other operations, extent of work and individual rates will be agreed with the Authorised Officer.
Root Pruning. When required, root pruning locations will be indicated on the approved plans. Exact location and depth shall be determined on site with Project Officer and Urban Forester during the pre- construction meeting.
