SENIOR CONSTABLES. During the life of this Agreement SAPOL will maintain number of Senior Constables positions to be equal to 35% of the total sworn police officers positions.
SENIOR CONSTABLES. 38.1 Senior Constables shall be paid the rate of one hundred and two percent (102%) of a First Class Constable's salary. It is agreed and understood that the increase in the Senior Constable rate is in recognition of seniority and the augmentation to the duties of a Senior Constable that will take place with the implementation of Community Based Policing. This entitlement shall cease June 30, 2003 and be replaced by Article 38.2. The factors for Senior Constable eligibility are as follows:

In order to recognize the experience and level of professionalism in the performance of police duties demonstrated by individual constables in the Service, the Board and the Association agree to implement the designation of Senior Constable. Definitions
SENIOR CONSTABLES. (a) A uniformed employee satisfying the requirements hereinafter set forth shall be entitled to designation as a Senior Constable and shall receive a salary greater than that of a First Class Constable. The requirements for Senior Constable status shall be as follows: The employee shall have years of continuous service as a sworn with any Ontario Police Service,preliminary service as a Cadet during training to be included in the of the years of service. Service must be continuous active service, with the exception where the employee has had a break in service that has not exceeded months at the time they are hired with the Police Service. The employee shall have successfullycompleted the written exam as provided by the Ontario Police College for promotion Constable to Sergeant and the Service received written confirmation of such successful completion. The employee by successfully completing the aforementioned exam every years. After successfullycompleting qualifications,employees shall remain qualified and need not write the qualifying every years. Employees shall have the option of writing the exam at another scheduled location of their choice, at their own expense. This additional compensation shall not be pyramided with nor increased by any other amounts received pursuant to this Agreement. Effective January this article and associated entitlement shall be deleted from the collective agreement. ARTICLE RETROACTIVITY All benefits granted by this Agreement shall be retroactiveto January unless otherwise stipulated. ARTICLE DURATION This Agreement shall remain in force and effect for a period of years from January to and including December and thereafter until replaced by a new Agreement, Decision or Award. Either party may give written notification to the other party at any time after days before the expiry date that it desires to bargain for a new Agreement or amendments to the existing Agreement. Within days fromthe service of such notice or at a mutually agreed to time, each party shall provide to the other a list of the changes to the Agreement it desires. The provisions of the Police Services Act, as amended, shall then apply.
