Central Sick Leave Bank. 1. The Central Sick Leave Bank (CSLB) shall be funded by teacher and BOARD contributions in the following manner:
a. Effective at the commencement of each school year, all teachers shall contribute one (1) day of their current year’s Sick and Emergency Leave allocation to the CSLB.
b. When the total number of days in the CSLB drops below twenty-five (25) for the first time during an academic year, teachers will be assessed one additional day each of sick leave. Teachers who have no remaining sick days (in their personal bank or from their regular annual allotment) will be charged one (1) day’s pay at their daily rate, or one (1) additional day from their four (4) Personal Time Off days (PTO) 9 sick and emergency days for the next school year, at the teacher’s option. If the full amount of teachers’ first or second round contribution is not used during one school year, it will be carried over to following years until it is used up.
c. The BOARD shall fund excess days required by the CSLB to the extent that the number of days contributed to the CSLB by teachers is insufficient for any year’s usage.
2. A teacher must be out of work due to sickness or injury for at least twenty

Notwithstanding Art. or any other language in the collective agreement, the Board will make such additional annual contributions of funds to the in and so that all benefits owing to persons eligible for benefits under the collective agreements are paid. A committee comprising three (3) representatives of the Board and three (3) representatives of the Association will to discuss alternatives to the Central Sick Bank Plan, including but not limited to the introduction of a new Long Term Term Disability or the continuation of the existing plans, or other options. The option determined under this process shall come into to be in place no later than January If the parties cannot reach agreement on the matter by December the parties agree that the matter will be heard and determined at an interest arbitration chaired by or, if he is not available, by or, if he is not available, G shall appoint the chair if the parties cannot agree on a chair. The decision shall be final and binding on the parties as if the matter were determined as an interest arbitration under the collective agreements. The parties shall appoint their nominees to the Board. If required, the above hearing will commence no later than April with an implementationdate of January In the event that there are changes to the public complaints system during the currency of the collective agreements, the Association shall have the right to reopen negotiations to address any legal indemnification issues that may arise from such changes, including resort to mediation and interest arbitration, if necessary, pursuant to the of the collective agreements.

2) A teacher must be out of work due to sickness or injury for at least twenty (20) consecutive days. The twenty (20) days can come from the current year’s leave days, personal banked days or unpaid days before s/he is eligible to receive any days from the CSLB. It is understood that if a teacher returns to work during the same school year and is subsequently absent because of the same or a directly related sickness or injury, the days of absence shall be considered to have been consecutive if by the terms of the BOARD’S Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance policy such absences would be deemed to have been consecutive for purposes of qualifying for LTD insurance. Any subsequent related absences must be verified by a doctor and the BOARD may exercise its option under Article VII, Xxxxxxx 0, X, 0 d, below, of this provision.
3) A teacher shall make written application, on forms provided by the BOARD, to the Executive Director of Human Resources when requesting days from the CSLB. Such application must be submitted during the period the teacher is out of work; moreover, it is understood that days may not be drawn from the CSLB until the application and supporting information is received by the Executive Director of Human Resources and the requirements listed in Article VII, Section 3. G, 4, below have been met. The application shall include the following information.

Central Sick Leave Bank. Membership in the Central Sick Leave Bank (“CSLB”) is voluntary. Only Members who have joined may apply for sick time from the CSLB. Applications to join are to be made to Human Resources.
Central Sick Leave Bank. 1. The association will operate a Central Sick Leave Bank on a mandatory basis. The association will establish a committee to administer the Central Sick Leave Bank and to provide the information whereby the Business Office will keep the records. The Executive Director of Human Resources will serve in the capacity of an adviser to the committee. The initial guidelines for the operation of the Central Sick Leave Bank have been developed jointly by the parties through collective bargaining. The association shall make the Sick Bank guidelines available to each teacher within ten (10) days after completion of the guidelines. The association will appraise teachers in a timely fashion of guideline changes thereafter.
2. The Central Sick Leave Bank will be established on July 1, 1989. It shall be initially funded on that date by a mandatory donation of two (2) days sick leave from the 1989-90 allocation of sick days to each member of the bargaining unit. If the number of days in the Central Sick Leave Bank falls to one hundred (100) days at any time up to and including August 20, 1991, the Board of Education shall make a contribution of one (1) day per member of the bargaining unit to the Central Sick Leave Bank to replenish it. Thereafter, if the number of days in the Central Sick Leave Bank falls to one hundred (100) days, each member of the bargaining unit shall make a mandatory contribution of one (1) of his/her sick leave days to the Central Sick Leave Bank to replenish it.
3. In addition to the above, every teacher new to the district will donate two (2) days of his/her individual leave upon commencement of his/her employment.
4. Any bargaining unit member who leaves the employ of the Huron Valley School District effective on or after June 9, 1989, shall donate one-half of his/her unused sick leave to the Central Sick Leave Bank.
5. A bargaining unit member will not be able to withdraw the individually contributed days.
6. The first fourteen (14) consecutive workdays of illness or disability will not be covered by the Central Sick Leave Bank but must be covered by the person's own accumulated leave or as absence without pay.
7. a. A person credited with less than fifty (50) leave days at the beginning of the school year will not be able to use days from the Central Sick Leave Bank until his/her leave days are depleted.

Central Sick Leave Bank. The purpose of the Central Sick Leave Bank is to provide income protection for employees who are faced with catastrophic, unscheduled, or unplanned illnesses. The days in this bank shall be equivalent to an individual’s Serious Illness bank leave. During the months of October through December, all employees are eligible to contribute up to 12 hours from their existing Serious Illness Bank to the Sick Leave Bank for use in the following year. Any employee (unit and non-unit) may request up to 40 hours from this bank so long as the following requirements are met: • The employee must have at least one-year seniority with MHCD, • The employee must first have exhausted all of their paid leave, and • A certification of illness by a physician or licensed practitioner is presented. Requests shall be submitted to Human Resources. No reasonable request shall be denied except that the total number of hours available for use by all employees, each year, shall be 500 hours.
Central Sick Leave Bank. 1. The Board of Education will contribute a day for each day contributed by a teacher to the Central Sick Leave Bank. The Board will subtract from its contribution the number of days that equals the number of unpaid days members had to wait to be eligible for initial entry to the Central Sick Leave Bank; except that those days waived by the Central Sick Leave Bank Board shall not be subtracted.
2. There shall be a Central Sick Bank Board consisting of one representative each from the bargaining unit, central administration, and the Board of Education to act upon application and to manage the Central Bank.
3. Newly contracted teachers will automatically contribute one day to the Central Sick Leave Bank.
4. Further contributions to maintain the stability of the Central Sick Leave Bank shall be determined by the Bank Board.
