Sick Leave Benefits. Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. Sick Leave Benefits. (a) Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits. (b) A Casual Nurse (except a Casual Nurse while in a Temporary Position) is not entitled to sick leave which means the Casual Nurse is expressly excluded from provisions 20.00 (a), 20.01 through 20.08 (inclusive), and 20.13.
