Sick Leave Transfer The Board will honor written requests from a bargaining unit member to donate one or more sick leave days from the donor’s accumulated sick leave to a member under the following conditions:
Sick Leave Pool is intended to provide security after all other insurance benefits have been exhausted, by allowing employees to buy insurance for extended illness, or other disability. When "buying" pool days, employees convert earned days on a one (1) to three (3) basis. Similar to purchasing insurance, the employee may pick a given number of days to exchange for coverage in case of extended disability. Pool days are available for use only under the conditions listed below, and are not eligible for payout at retirement or termination.
Sick Leave Donation Any district employee may donate up to two (2) days of his/ her personal accumulated sick leave days or personal leave days per year to any other employee who has exhausted his/her accumulated days. This leave will be for serious personal illness or accident. An employee may donate to as many individual(s) as he /she wishes, as long as the recipient meets the qualifications of this provision.
Sick Leave Policy It is the policy of the State of Ohio to not unreasonably deny sick leave to employees when requested. It is also the policy of the State to take corrective action for unauthorized use of sick leave and/or abuse of sick leave. It is further the policy of the State that when corrective and/or disciplinary action is taken, it will be applied progressively and consistently. It is the desire of the State of Ohio that when discipline is applied it will serve the purpose of correcting the performance of the employee.
Sick Leave Sharing The Board shall administer a sick leave sharing program accessible to teachers who exhaust or will likely exhaust all their accumulated leave, and have used statutory additional sick leave (20 days) less the cost of the substitute. The sick leave sharing program shall be governed by the guidelines in Appendix D which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. (July 2015)
Sick Leave Payment (a) The District shall for all Regular Full-time and Regular Part-time employees who have completed three (3) months continuous employment, subject to the conditions as set forth herein:
Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:
Sick Leave Payoff Employee with accrued, unused sick leave may, at the time of separation, select one of the following options for reimbursement:
Sick Leave Abuse When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.
Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.
