SICK, PERSONAL, AND PROFESSIONAL LEAVE. SICK LEAVE: Teachers will receive ten (10) days sick leave per year. Sick leave days can be cumulative to ninety days. Sick leave and/or accumulated sick leave may be used for absences caused by illness or injury or the employee, and/or the employees immediate family. Immediate family is defined as mother, father, child, or sibling of the teacher or the teacher’s spouse. After any health issue exceeding ten (10) days, the employee must produce a written physician’s statement stating the reasons additional days are required.

Unused sick leave may be purchased back at a rate of $25.00 per day (valid only for the current school year) or can be accumulated up to ninety (90) days. Banked days are not eligible for buy back. Teachers will be provided the following leave:  Sick Leave: eight (8) days  Personal Leave: four (4) days At the conclusion of the ’18-’19 school year, a cost analysis will be completed to identify the financial impact to the district.   • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part- time employees who are elected to or appointed to the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario subject to the following limitations:

  • Personal Leave Written request for a personal leave of absence without pay will be considered on an individual basis by the Hospital. Such requests are to be submitted to the employee's immediate supervisor at least four (4) weeks in advance, unless not reasonably possible to give such notice, and a written reply will be given within fourteen (14) days except in cases of emergency in which case a reply will be given as soon as possible. Employees needing personal leave days for appointments with medical practitioners may utilize the personal leave language. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Personal/Carer’s Leave a) Personal/carer’s leave is defined in accordance with Section 244 of the Act and includes paid sick leave (accrued under the AFPCS) and paid or unpaid carer’s leave (accrued under the AFPCS). Casual employees shall have no entitlement to paid personal/carer’s leave.
