Common use of Sick/Personal Leave Clause in Contracts

Sick/Personal Leave. Earned sick leave may be used when it is necessary to miss work because of an employee's illness, doctor and/or dentist appointment, funeral attendance, and/or for the care of an employee's sick parent, spouse or minor child where the employee's attendance is essential for their parent's, minor child's or spouse's care. Each regular full time employee shall earn sick leave days at the rate of one (1) sick day of eight (8) hours for each full month of service up to a maximum accumulation of seventy-two (72) days which may be used for the above stated purposes. If the Employer proposes or initiates changes to the mechanisms of sick or personal leave accruals or use for non-union employees, the Union may accept the change or retain existing benefits.
