Sickness During Paid Leave. (a) When sickness occurs during paid leave, such as annual or long service leave, the leave may be debited against the sick leave entitlement (except where the sickness occurs during leave following the relinquishment of office) provided that: • In cases where the period of sickness extends beyond the approved period of annual or long service leave, approval will also be given to debiting the portion, which occurred within the annual leave or long service leave period, against sick leave entitlement, provided the conditions in 18.2 (a) above apply. • Annual leave or long service leave may not be split to allow periods of illness of three days or less to be taken. • Where the period of sick leave is more than three days and a medical certificate is produced. (b) During periods of leave without pay, sick leave entitlements will not continue to accrue. (c) Where an employee has a consistent pattern of short-term Sick Leave, or where those absences are more than 10 working days/shifts or more in a year, then the employee’s situation may be reviewed in line with the DHBs policy and Sick Leave practices. The focus of the review will be assisting the employee in establishing practical arrangements to recover from sickness or injury.

Sickness During Paid Leave. 4.4.1 When sickness occurs during paid leave, such as annual or long service leave, the leave may be debited against the sick leave entitlement (except where the sickness occurs during leave following resignation) provided that: 4.4.1.1 If the period of sick leave is more than three (3) days, a medical certificate is produced. 4.4.1.2 In cases where the period of sickness extends beyond the approved period of annual or long service leave, approval will also be given to debiting the portion, which occurred within the annual leave or long service leave period against sick leave entitlement, provided the conditions in clauses 4.4.1 and 4.4.1.1 above apply. 4.4.1.3 Annual leave or long service leave may not be split to allow periods of illness of three (3) days or less to be taken. 4.4.2 During periods of leave without pay, sick leave entitlements will not continue to accrue. 4.4.3 Where an employee has a consistent pattern of short-term Sick Leave, or where those absences are more than ten (10) working days/shifts or more in a year, then the employee’s situation may be reviewed in line with the employer’s policy and Sick Leave practices. The focus of the review will be to assist the employee in establishing practical arrangements to recover.

  • Illness During Vacation (The following clause is applicable to full-time employees only)

  • Employment During Unpaid Maternity Leave Where less than the 52 weeks Other Parent Leave is taken paid or unpaid, the unused portion of the leave cannot be banked or preserved in any way.

  • Sick Leave During Leave of Absence (F/T) When an Employee is given leave of absence without pay for any reason, or is laid off on account of lack of work, he/she shall not continue to accumulate sick leave and shall not be entitled to receive pay for sickness for the period of such absence, but shall retain his/her cumulative credit, if any, existing at the time of such leave or lay-off.

  • Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.

  • Benefits During Leave Employees are encouraged to contact the Employer’s Benefits Office (phone # 000-000-0000, xxxxxxxx@xx.xxx) prior to any leave without pay to understand impact on benefits and learn about other points to consider.

  • Bereavement During Vacation Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a bereavement, the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article 12.

  • Communication during parental leave (a) Where an employee is on parental leave and a definite decision has been made to introduce significant change at the workplace, the employer shall take reasonable steps to: (i) make information available in relation to any significant effect the change will have on the status or responsibility level of the position the employee held before commencing parental leave; and (ii) provide an opportunity for the employee to discuss any significant effect the change will have on the status or responsibility level of the position the employee held before commencing parental leave. (b) The employee shall take reasonable steps to inform the employer about any significant matter that will affect the employee’s decision regarding the duration of parental leave to be taken, whether the employee intends to return to work and whether the employee intends to request to return to work on a part-time basis. (c) The employee shall also notify the employer of changes of address or other contact details which might affect the employer’s capacity to comply with (a) above.

  • Employee leaving during notice period An employee given notice of termination in circumstances of redundancy may terminate their employment during the period of notice. The employee is entitled to receive the benefits and payments they would have received under this clause had they remained in employment until the expiry of the notice, but is not entitled to any payment in lieu of any remaining notice.

  • Death During Benefit Period If the Executive dies after the benefit payments have commenced under this Agreement but before receiving all such payments, the Company shall pay the remaining benefits to the Executive's beneficiary at the same time and in the same amounts they would have been paid to the Executive had the Executive survived.

  • Employee Leaving During Notice An employee whose employment is to be terminated for reasons set out in this clause may terminate employment during the period of notice and, if so, shall be entitled to the same benefits and payments under this clause had the employee remained with the employer until the expiry of such notice. This is with the provision that in such circumstances the employee shall not be entitled to payment instead of notice.
