Special Leave. ‌ (a) Where leave from work is required, an employee shall be entitled to special leave at his/her regular rate of pay for the following: (1) Marriage of the employee three days, (2) Attend wedding of the employee's child one day, (3) Birth or adoption of the employee's child one day,‌ (4) Serious household or domestic emergency one day, (5) Moving household furniture and effects one day, (6) Attend his/her formal hearing to become a Canadian citizen one day, (7) Attend funeral as pallbearer or mourner one day, (8) Court appearance for hearing of employee's child one day, (b) Two weeks' notice is required for leave under Clauses (a)(1), (2), (5) and (6). (c) For the purposes of (a)(2), (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8), leave with pay will be only for the workday on which the situation occurs. (d) For the purpose of determining eligibility for special leave under (a)(5), an employee will qualify if he/she is maintaining a self-contained household and if he/she is changing his/her place of residence which necessitates the moving of household furniture and effects during his/her normal workday, and if he/she has not already qualified for special leave under (a)(5) on two occasions within the preceding 12 months.

(a) Where leave from work is required, an employee shall be entitled to special leave at his/her their regular rate of pay for the following: (1) Marriage marriage of the employee three 3 days,; (2) Attend attend wedding of the employee's child one 1 day,; (3i) Birth or adoption birth of the an employee's child one day,‌1 day; (ii) adoption of an employee's child 3 days; (4) Serious serious household or domestic emergency one 1 day,; (5) Moving moving household furniture and effects one 1 day,; (6) Attend his/her attend their formal hearing to become a Canadian citizen one 1 day,; (7) Attend attend funeral as pallbearer or mourner one ½ day,; (8) Court court appearance for hearing of employee's child one 1 day,. (b) Two weeks' (2) weeks notice is required for leave under Clauses (a)(1Clause 23.2(a)(1), (2), (5) and (6). (c) For the purposes of (a)(2Clauses 23.2(a)(2), (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8), leave with pay will be only for the workday on which the situation occurs. For the purpose of Clauses 23.2(a)(1) and (3), the leave requested must fall within a seven (7) day period of the event. (d) For the purpose of determining eligibility for special leave under (a)(5Clause 23.2(a)(5), an employee will qualify if he/she is they are maintaining a self-contained household and if he/she is they are changing his/her their place of residence which necessitates the moving of household furniture and effects during his/her their normal workdayworking hours, and if he/she has they have not already qualified for special leave under (a)(5Clause 23.2(a)(5) on two occasions within the preceding 12 twelve (12) months.
