SUMMER SCHOOL AND INTERSESSION. 11.1 For purposes of this Agreement, (a) “Summer session” refers to one or more sessions of classes and/or other organized educational activities lasting five or more weeks which are scheduled to occur between the end of the final examination period for the spring semester and the beginning of the fall semester classes, and (b) “intersession” refers to one or more sessions, classes and/or other organized educational activities which are scheduled to occur between the end of the final examination period for the fall semester and the beginning of the spring semester classes or during another period outside of the normal academic year.
SUMMER SCHOOL AND INTERSESSION. The Superintendent has decided to bargain supplemental service pay for summer school and intersession. Teachers of summer school and Intersession shall be paid $40 for each hour of instruction in accordance with applicable state statue and regulations governing summer school pay for Teachers.
SUMMER SCHOOL AND INTERSESSION. 14.1 SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS. Summer teaching assignments shall be determined solely on the basis of the programmatic needs of academic departments and programs. A Within the scope of academic need, each department shall develop a written procedure approved by the faculty members of each department to ensure that all regular faculty members are accorded an equitable opportunity for summer school teaching. Members of the bargaining unit shall be given priority for summer teaching assignments except for summer teaching assignments assumed by department chairs who are on twelve (12) month contracts. B Faculty may teach in the summer as a substitute for teaching in one of the regular academic year terms, if such an exchange of service is determined by the Xxxx or designee to fit the academic and student needs of the department or college. In addition, faculty may teach in the summer as a substitute for teaching in one of the regular academic year terms in order to facilitate the professional development of the faculty member, provided that the exchange of service is determined by the Xxxx or designee to fit the academic and student needs of the department or college. Any request for summer exchange should be initiated in writing by the faculty member and submitted to the Xxxx for approval with a written recommendation by the Chair of the department.
