It is agreed that due to differences in operating times when faculty members would not normally be present are in various buildings, the Building Principal shall establish the time of the teacher’s work day, not to exceed more than one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes beyond the end of the student day or one (1) hour prior to the beginning of the student 7 ½ hours per day.
2. Attendance Any teacher who is required to return to school after normal working hours to participate in, supervise, or sponsor a school-related activity, may leave school at faculty the same time as the students on the day of the activity.
B. Each teacher’s schedule shall include at least one (1) period for conference and preparation. It is understood that each teacher’s conference, preparation period shall be commensurate with the length of one (1) instructional period in the secondary schools and at least forty (40) consecutive minutes in the elementary schools. If a teacher’s preparation time is taken by IEPs or other administrator-mandated meetings called by more than thirty (30) times per school year, the administration teacher shall be compensated for the excess at the rate identified in Article 15-F.
C. A regular full-time secondary teaching assignment shall include one period of not less than fifty (50) minutes preparation time per day. Supervision assignments such as lunch room duty or study hall may be included in a teacher’s schedule in lieu of a teaching period. When the library is scheduled to be open for student use, the librarian will not be mandatory assigned a study hall in the library.
D. Teachers shall have a duty free, uninterrupted lunch period of thirty (30) minutes. In addition, teachers shall have a total of five (5) minutes passing time which can be used before and/or after the lunch period.
E. Teachers shall be required to attend one (1) scheduled building meeting per month and may be required to attend one (1) additional meeting per month at the discretion of the building principal. Teachers shall be provided that notice of such meetings is given with an agenda forty-eight (48) hours prior to each meeting, except in advancecases of emergency. TEACHING HOURS. A. The Board recognizes the principle of a standard work week, and will set work schedules and make professional assignments which can reasonably be completed within such standard work week. The parties have agreed upon a School Calendar containing 171 student days and 181 teacher obligation days for 2010- 2011 and 2011-2012. The parties additionally recognize that the hours of student contact time specified in this Article are subject to adjustment so that the District satisfies all requirements of the Revised School Code and State School Aid Act for full receipt of foundation allowances and other appropriations.
B. It is hereby agreed that attendance at regularly scheduled PTA, PTIA, PTO meetings, etc., conferences and school staff meetings shall be scheduled not more frequently than twice monthly for one (1) hour. 1. It is understood that the above times may vary from elementary school to elementary school, but the length of recess time, length of unbroken conference and preparation period, time spent in instructional responsibilities, and length of lunch hour (see 4. below) will not vary from elementary school to elementary school.
2. Elementary teachers shall be required to supervise one (1) elementary recess period per week.
3. Additional relief time from instructional responsibilities in the amount of an average one hundred eighty (180) minutes per week shall be provided when elementary music, art, physical education, or other special subjects teachers are in the classroom.
4. All elementary teachers shall be entitled to a duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period of forty-five (45) minutes in length, except that on days of inclement weather when students are confined to the building, sharing arrangements shall be worked out in each building in cooperation with teachers and principals.
D. The secondary teachers’ normal (middle school and high school) formal teaching hours in the schools shall be as follows: Teachers must :

TEACHING HOURS. A. The teachersAssociation agrees that the teachers shall set aside one(1) hour of one (1) day semi-monthly be spent on committee or staff work as assigned by the administration. Teachers will attend all building meetings called by the principal. If a meeting is to be longer than one (1) hour; the principal will give the entire building staff three (3) days’ normal teaching hours in the schools notice. 6.5 It is recognized and acknowledged that in addition to the hours indicated in 6.1 above, teachers may be required to spend reasonable amounts of time in school-related activities; such as, but not limited to, parent/teacher conferences, preparing for instruction, evaluating the work of students, providing leadership in student organizations, attending open house activities, and attending staff development programs.
6.6 It is also understood and agreed that fulfillment of the professional responsibilities of employees covered by this Agreement requires that each employee assume his/her fair share of responsibility for the conduct and supervision of extracurricular activities at times other than the specified working hours (6.1). Assignment of personnel under this provision shall be under the jurisdiction of the school principal. No extra duty assignments will be required during any holiday, winter, or spring break.
6.6.1 Teacher representatives, together with the school administration at each campus, will mutually develop and establish the annually required number of extra-duty assignments for school dances and athletic events and will distribute these assignments in a fair and equitable manner, taking into consideration the assignment preferences of the teachers.
6.6.2 All full-time certificated staff, unless otherwise excused, shall be responsible for ten (10) hours of assigned extracurricular duties supervision as part of their professional responsibility in serving students. Hours beyond the above amount will be on a voluntary basis. Extracurricular duties are to basis and will be defined as those duties which are associated with activities scheduled for times other than when school is normally in sessionpaid at the current minimum wage rate.

Faculty meetings and committee meetings scheduled 6.6.3 Supervision for times when faculty members would not normally be present are not to exceed more than District-approved student clubs (exclusive of clubs for which reimbursement is awarded), which formally meet for approximately one (1) hour at least twice monthly throughout the school year, will meet the employee's annual required supervision responsibility.
6.7 Full-time teachers and fifteen librarians shall be entitled to a duty-free lunch period of thirty (1530) minutes beyond or the end equivalent of the student day lunch period exclusive of passing time, whichever is longer. This provision shall not be interpreted as preventing teachers from voluntarily choosing to assist in school-directed activities or one (1) hour prior to the beginning of the student dayassuming extra duties during said times.

TEACHING HOURS. A. G. Teachers (1) A teacher agreeing to teach a class during his/her secondary prep hour or elementary specials time shall be scheduled for prep time each week for a minimum 225 minutespaid $40 to be increased by 62.5% of PPF grant increase or 1%, whichever is greater.

(b) For the purposes of this section, the term “permanent basis” will mean an extended period over five (5) working days; teachers shall be reimbursed at the rates above retroactive to the first date of said assignment.

TEACHING HOURS. A. When a specialist is assigned to any staff member’s classroom during an assembly time, that staff member may leave twenty (20) minutes after the assembly for whatever portion of that time is needed to perform necessary tasks normally done during preparation time. It is not expected that the teacher will leave for the sole purpose of having break time. Planning time lost due to shared time teachers’ extra-curricular high school responsibilities will be rescheduled by the shared time teacher.
G. No departure from these norms, except in the case of emergency, shall be made without prior consultation with the Association. In the event of any disagreement between the Board and the Association as to the need and desirability of such deviation, the matter may be processed through the professional grievance procedure hereinafter set forth.
H. Whenever a teacher is asked to work more than his/her teaching schedule as set forth in this article, he/she shall receive additional compensation as indicated in paragraph I.

C. Elementary teachers who have no students under their supervision during time when their students are receiving instruction from various teaching specialists, shall use the time for class preparation.
D. All teachers shall be entitled to a duty free uninterrupted lunch period of a minimum of thirty (30) minutes duration. Emergency situations or problems connected with inclement weather may alter the schedule.
E. The teaching load in the senior high school, excluding full time counselors and full - time librarians, will meet requirements that each teacher within the student school day will have an average of at least one (1) preparation/consultation period per day exclusive of lunch period. The workday for the regular classroom teacher normally consists of student instruction, conference/planning time, and a duty-free lunch period. The Board and Administration, whenever possible, shall seek to limit meetings involving a total building faculty and extending beyond the normal school day to not more than two per month and not more than one hour in duration. All teachers should serve on a committee working to improve the school program. The Board and Administration shall strive to make such committee assignments on a proportional basis among teachers. This shall not prevent a teacher from volunteering for a disproportional number of committees. The Board and Administration also recognize the need to keep the number of school improvement and similar committees at a reasonable number and will strive to do so.

Scheduled days of student instruction which are not held because of conditions not within the control of school authorities, such as inclement weather, fires, epidemics, mechanical breakdowns, or health conditions as defined by city, county, or state health authorities will be rescheduled for which such rescheduling is required by the administration State for full State Aid and to ensure that the district will be mandatory provided incur no loss of state aid. Teachers will receive their regular pay for days that notice of such meetings is given forty-eight (48) hours in advance. Employees will are canceled and shall not be required to report for work on such days but shall work on the rescheduled days with no additional compensation. Rescheduling shall be accomplished as specified in the calendars included within this agreement.
G. If at any time during the term of this Agreement any additional hours or days of instruction are required by law as a requirement for receipt of full state aid by the school district, the Board and the Association shall engage in negotiations with respect to the manner by which the additional instructional hours and/or days required will be met and any implications for additional staffing and/or additional compensation related thereto.
H. Each employee shall attend more than three (3) meetings monthly nor more than twenty-one (21) meetings professional development outside of regular school hours as agreed upon in the school year calendar. Credit for the required hours may be earned by attending any scheduled classes in the teacher technology training lab. With prior written approval by the administration, credit may be earned by attending other professional development activities outside of regular school hours. Credit may also be earned by participation as a presenter in a school yearpreapproved training session for other staff members. Meetings called by Final authority for the administration with parents will be counted as part granting of this requirement.
3. Parent Teacher Conferences shall be held twice per year. The first one following the first marking period and the second midcredit for non-way into the third marking period.

I. All teachers who substitute a total of six (6) full class periods for an absent member shall be compensated at the substitute teacher daily rate or receive a compensatory day offAdministration. TEACHING HOURS. A. The teachers’ normal Services to be rendered by teachers include their participation outside of regular teaching hours in in, up to, and including six (6) school functions per school year. Some examples of school functions are: • Individual parent-teacher conferences as scheduled by the schools shall be as follows: Teachers must be principal (versus regularly scheduled PT conferences); • PTA meetings; • CIC (Community Involvement Committee); • Staff-developed community activities; • Supervision of extracurricular activities of students; and • Attendance at assigned place of duty at least fifteen (15) minutes before first class begins. After lunch teachers must be at assigned place of duty before class beginsany educational or civic function. Teachers may leave twenty (20) minutes after the end of the school day. Adjustments, requested by a teacher, to the arrival and departure times may be approved by administration.
B. For the duration of this contract, unless mutually agreed upon, noon-hour and playground supervision will be provided by the school district.
C. All extracurricular duties will be on a voluntary basis. Extracurricular duties are to be defined as those duties which are associated with activities scheduled for times other than when school is normally in session.

During those 12 hours, a total of 3 hours of PD will occur, all counting toward student instruction. In 2013-14 and 2014-15, there shall also be 5 mandatory half days of PD (a total of 15 hours all counting towards student instruction), as well as two full class periods days of PD which are identified in the ratified calendars for these years. On optional PD days, defined as outside of the duty day, teachers are free to leave. Events for which teachers are paid to attend are excluded. Teachers may express to their principal a preference for particular school functions. The principal shall give fair consideration to such expressed preferences along with other considerations including, but not limited to, staff balance based upon sex, crowd control, and nature of the school function and will accordingly assign teachers to particular functions. When a teacher has been assigned an absent member activity and finds the responsibility cannot be fulfilled, the teacher is required to report this to the administrator in charge, and the teacher will secure a replacement subject to the approval of the administrator. No discrimination shall be compensated made against individuals who do or do not volunteer. Attendance at all functions other than as provided for above shall be at the substitute teacher daily rate option of the individual teacher.
