Trade and Climate Change. 1. The Parties recognise the importance of pursuing the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement in order to address the urgent threat of climate change and the role of trade and investment in pursuing these objectives.
2. Pursuant to paragraph 1, the Parties commit to:
(a) effectively implement the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement;
(b) promote the contribution of trade and investment to the transition to a low- carbon-economy and to climate-resilient development; and
(c) cooperate bilaterally, regionally and in international fora as appropriate on trade-related climate change issues.
Trade and Climate Change. 1. The Parties recognize that climate change poses significant risks to communities, infrastructure, the economy, the environment and human health, with potential consequences for international trade, and that efforts are required to build resilience. The Parties also reaffirm the principles and objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement and their commitments under the respective instruments.
2. In accordance with the foregoing, each Party shall:
(a) promote the contribution of trade to sustainable development and the transition to a sustainable low-emission economy and climate-resilient development, and
(b) promote actions on mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
3. The Parties recognize, in the context of sustainable development, that there are different economic, social and environmental policy instruments that enable the achievement of national climate change objectives and support the achievement of their international climate change commitments. The Parties may share information and experiences in the development and implementation of such instruments. In particular, the Parties recognize that there are important areas of collaboration between the Parties on climate change adaptation and mitigation.
4. Pursuant to Article 17.8, the Parties shall cooperate to address matters of common interest. Areas of cooperation may include, among others: climate finance; climate governance and institutions; sustainable consumption and production and climate change; air quality co-benefits of greenhouse gas control measures; climate change mitigation and adaptation; resilient water management; sustainable agriculture; energy efficiency; research and development of cost-effective low- emission technologies; development of alternative, clean and renewable energy sources; solutions to deforestation and forest degradation; recovery of degraded areas; monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; methodologies for accounting for GHG emissions reductions under international agreements; carbon pricing mechanisms and other complementary measures to support a low-emissions transition; control of the spread of pests and diseases; preparedness for and action against extreme events related to climate change, such as forest fires, drought and desertification.

The Parties recognise the importance of pursuing the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement and the principles and provisions contained therein, in order to address the urgent threat of climate change and the role of trade and investment in pursuing these objectives.
2. Pursuant to paragraph 1, the Parties commit to:
(a) effectively implement their respective obligations and commitments under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement;
(b) promote the contribution of trade and investment to the transition to a low- carbon-economy and to climate-resilient development; and
(c) cooperate bilaterally, regionally and in international fora, as appropriate, on trade-related climate change issues.

The Parties recognise that climate change impacts are being felt and poses significant risks to communities, infrastructure, the economy, the environment and human health, and that efforts to increase resilience are required. The Parties commit to promote effective climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in order to tackle global, regional and domestic challenges and minimise harm.
2. The Parties recognise the importance of pursuing the objectives and principles of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement in order to address the urgent threat of climate change. Accordingly, the Parties recognise the role of trade to achieve the goals of sustainable development and to address climate change, as well as the importance of individual and collective efforts to address climate change impacts through mitigation and adaptation actions.
3. Pursuant to paragraph 1 and 2, the Parties commit to:
Trade and Climate Change. 1. The Parties recognise the importance of achieving the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement in order to address the urgent threat of climate change and the role of trade in achieving these objectives.
2. Pursuant to paragraph 1, the Parties shall: (a) effectively implement the UNFCCC;

2. Pursuant to paragraph 1, the Parties shall:
(a) effectively implement the UNFCCC;
(b) effectively implement the Paris Agreement under which each Party's successive nationally determined contribution will represent a progression beyond the Party's then current nationally determined contribution and reflect its highest possible ambition, reflecting its common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities, in the light of different national circumstances;
(c) promote the contribution of trade to the transition to a low-carbon-, sustainable and climate resilient economy; and
(d) cooperate bilaterally, regionally and in international fora, as appropriate, on trade-related climate change issues.
Trade and Climate Change. 1. The Parties recognise the importance of taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, and the role of trade in pursuing this objective, consistent with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the purpose and goals of the Paris Agreement adopted by the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC at its 21st session, and with other MEAs and multilateral instruments in the area of climate change.
2. In light of paragraph 1, each Party shall:
(a) effectively implement the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement adopted thereunder, including its commitments with regard to its Nationally Determined Contributions;
(b) promote the mutual supportiveness of trade and climate policies and measures thereby contributing to the transition to a low greenhouse gas emission, resource- efficient economy and to climate-resilient development;
(c) facilitate the removal of obstacles to trade and investment in goods and services of particular relevance for climate change mitigation and adaptation, such as renewable energy, energy efficient products and services, for instance through addressing tariff and non-tariff barriers or through the adoption of policy frameworks conducive to the deployment of best available technologies;
(d) make continuous and sustained efforts to ratify the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
3. The Parties shall work together to strengthen their cooperation on trade-related aspects of climate change policies and measures bilaterally, regionally and in international fora, as appropriate, including in the UNFCCC, the WTO, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Such cooperation may cover inter alia:
(a) policy dialogue and cooperation regarding the implementation of the Paris Agreement, such as on means to promote climate resilience, renewable energy, low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, preparation and adoption of carbon pricing action including Emission Trading Systems, sustainable transport, sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure development, emissions monitoring;
(b) supporting the development and adoption of ambitious and effective greenhouse gas emissions reduction measures by the IMO to be implemented by ships engaged in international trade;
(c) supporting an ambitious phase-out of ozone depleting substances (ODS) and phase-down of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) under the Montreal Protocol...

Trade and Climate Change. 1. The Parties recognise the importance of pursuing the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (hereinafter referred to as “UNFCCC”) in order to address the urgent threat of climate change and the role of trade to this end.
2. Pursuant to paragraph 1, each Party shall:
(a) effectively implement the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement established thereunder;
(b) promote the positive contribution of trade to the transition to a low-carbon economy and to climate-resilient development; and
(c) cooperate with the other Party on trade-related climate change issues bilaterally, regionally and in international fora as appropriate, including in the UNFCCC, the WTO and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
