TRAINING ASSISTANTS. The Bus Maintenance Department may appoint journey level/technician Bus Mechanics as Training Assistants on a temporary basis to develop and present Body Shop training materials and instruction. Training position opportunities will be posted, and a selection process will be used to select employees for these temporary positions. Appointment to the position of Training Assistant will be for a 12- month period. a. Training Assistants will receive a $1.755.00/hour premium while performing Training Assistant duties, except that a Training Assistant who is also an Assistant Supervisor will receive a $1/hour premium while performing Training Assistant duties. Duties shall include developing and presenting classes on their area of technical expertise for apprentices and/or other journey level mechanics. b. Training Assistant duty assignments from within a classification will be made on the basis oftake into account seniority for shift and location when multiple employees are qualified for the work .
