UNION RECOGNITION, ROLE AND RESOURCES. 55.1 The University recognises the contribution of effective Union organisation to productive workplace relations and that Unions are legitimate representatives of employees at the University. An employee is entitled to have Union representation in relation to any matter which arises under the provisions of this Agreement. 55.2 The University will not discriminate against or prejudice an employee in their employment because of their Union membership, Union activity or in their role as a delegate or representative.

UNION RECOGNITION, ROLE AND RESOURCES. The University recognises the contribution of effective Union organisation to productive workplace relations and that Unions are legitimate representatives of employees at the University. An employee is entitled to have Union representation in relation to any matter which arises under the provisions of this Agreement. The University will not discriminate against or prejudice an employee in their employment because of their Union membership, Union activity or in their role as a delegate or representative. The University will provide the following to the Unions: a) shared access to an appropriately equipped office for the use of the Unions; b) access to common area general purpose notice boards; c) deduction of Union dues from salary at a rate or amount advised under the Unions’ rules where this has been authorised by the employee; d) subject to complying with relevant University guidelines, access to electronic mail, internal mail systems for the distribution of Union material; e) provide new employees, at the point of offering employment, the names and addresses of the Unions to which the employee may make application to join; f) to provide new employees at the point of induction with Union materials and contact details of the Unions to which the employees may make application to join. g) union web site links on the new employees web page. Employees covered by this Agreement may attend up to 4 Union meetings per calendar year conducted by Unions, at which employees will be allowed to be absent from duty without loss of salary for 1 hour and 15 minutes on each occasion, that is, when taken in conjunction with a lunch break, a 2 hour meeting without loss of salary is possible. This provision is subject to the relevant Union providing reasonable notice of an intention to call such a meeting.

  • UNION RECOGNITION AND SECURITY 6.01 SAHO and the Employers recognize the Union as the sole bargaining representative for all Employees within the scope of this Agreement. 6.02 SAHO and the Employers agree to negotiate with the Union and its designated representatives and agree the Union may have the assistance of outside advisors in negotiation or discussion with XXXX and the Employers. 6.03 Every Employee, who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Union, shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, and every new Employee whose employment commences hereafter shall, within thirty (30) days after the commencement of employment, apply for and maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, provided that any Employee covered by this agreement who is not required to maintain membership in the Union shall, as a condition of employment, tender to the Union the periodic dues uniformly required to be paid by members of the Union. 6.04 The Employer agrees to deduct uniform membership dues, fees and assessments from the earnings due members of the Union. Deductions shall be made no later than the last pay of each month. (a) Provincial dues, fees and assessments shall be remitted to the SUN office within fifteen (15) calendar days following the date deductions were made. The Employer shall, when remitting such dues, provide in a single report the members’ names, Facility/Agency work location, status, classification, salary step and regular earnings. A list of newly hired, and terminated Employees shall also accompany the remittance. In addition to the information required above, the support list accompanying the remittance of Union dues shall show a residence address for all newly hired Employee(s). On a quarterly basis, the Employer shall provide the names and addresses of the Employees within the scope of the bargaining unit. (b) Local dues, fees and assessments shall be remitted to the Local within fifteen (15) calendar days following the date deductions were made.
