University Tenure Committee. 1. There will be five members on the Committee who will serve two-year terms. 2. Terms will be staggered so that approximately half of the members will change each year. 3. One member will be chosen from each college. 4. The Faculty Senate will select the five tenured faculty members that will serve on the University Tenure Committee. These faculty members will normally be selected in the Spring and their service on the committee will be consistent with paragraphs 1-3, above. 5. The Xxxxxxx will initially convene the committee to assist in committee organization. However, once organized, the Xxxxxxx will withdraw and the committee shall meet, consider and review as an individual body. The Xxxxxxx will have no further contact with the committee, unless pursuant to #9, below. 6. Committee members shall select a chair who will prepare the recommendations that will be sent to the Xxxxxxx. 7. If Committee members feel that a written ballot should be used, the chair will tabulate the results. 8. All committee members shall be familiar with the guidelines of this policy. 9. Upon request by the committee, the Xxxxxxx, Xxxx and/or the department Chair will attend a hearing of the University Tenure Committee to answer questions pertaining to the candidate and the tenure file.

University Tenure Committee. By 1 October, a University Tenure Committee shall be struck consisting of: • a Chairperson appointed by the President from among tenured Professors and Professional Associate IV's; • one (1) tenured member elected by and from each of the faculties of Arts, Education, Health Studies, Music, and Science; • one (1) tenured member elected by and from those Professional Associates who are not members of the above Faculties;
University Tenure Committee. By 1 October, a University Tenure Committee shall be struck consisting of:  a Chairperson appointed by the President from among tenured Professors and Professional Associate IV's;  one (1) tenured member elected by and from each of the faculties of Arts, Education, Health Studies, Music, and Science;  one (1) tenured member elected by and from those Professional Associates who are not members of the above Faculties;  two (2) Deans/Directors appointed by the President, plus one (1) alternate to replace a Xxxx/Director during deliberations and voting on applications where there may be a conflict of interest. A quorum at all meetings will consist of six (6) members, plus the Chairperson. Decisions on recommendations will be reached by simple majority in an open and recorded vote, with the Chair voting only in the event of a tie. Committee members shall absent themselves from discussion and voting when applicants for whom they have prepared recommendations are considered. The Committee may request to meet with the applicant, their designate(s), or with anyone who has submitted recommendations. Deans/Directors who have prepared recommendations must appear before the Committee if requested. The applicant may appear before the University Tenure Committee, and may be accompanied by advisors/spokespersons. The applicant shall be informed of when witnesses are to appear before the University Tenure Committee, and shall have the right to be present, and to question evidence presented. The applicant may also call witnesses. The applicant may enlist the aid of the Union or CAUT. Nothing in this Article shall be construed as requiring a member to appear before the Committee. Minutes of proceedings, the names of witnesses heard, and copies of evidence received, shall be available to members of the Committee and to the applicant. The Committee’s recommendations will normally be sent to the President by 15 December, with copies to applicants, Departments, Deans/Directors, and the Union. The Committee's recommendations, signed by those members who voted in favour of the recommendation, as well as any abstentions or dissenting viewpoints, shall be supported by written reasons which must be substantive and clearly related to qualifications by rank and criteria for tenure, and be sufficiently specific to enable the applicant to know the basis for the recommendation.

  • Operating Committee the Consortium’s managing body, composed of representatives of the Manager and the Contractors, pursuant to Annex XI.

  • Executive Committee (A) The Executive Committee shall be composed of not more than nine members who shall be selected by the Board of Directors from its own members and who shall hold office during the pleasure of the Board. (B) The Executive Committee shall have all the powers of the Board of Directors when it is not in session to transact all business for and in behalf of the Company that may be brought before it. (C) The Executive Committee shall meet at the principal office of the Company or elsewhere in its discretion at such times to be determined by a majority of its members, or at the call of the Chairman of the Executive Committee or at the call of the Chairman of the Board of Directors. The majority of its members shall be necessary to constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. Special meetings of the Executive Committee may be held at any time when a quorum is present. (D) Minutes of each meeting of the Executive Committee shall be kept and submitted to the Board of Directors at its next meeting. (E) The Executive Committee shall advise and superintend all investments that may be made of the funds of the Company, and shall direct the disposal of the same, in accordance with such rules and regulations as the Board of Directors from time to time make. (F) In the event of a state of disaster of sufficient severity to prevent the conduct and management of the affairs and business of the Company by its directors and officers as contemplated by these By-Laws any two available members of the Executive Committee as constituted immediately prior to such disaster shall constitute a quorum of that Committee for the full conduct and management of the affairs and business of the Company in accordance with the provisions of Article III of these By-Laws; and if less than three members of the Trust Committee is constituted immediately prior to such disaster shall be available for the transaction of its business, such Executive Committee shall also be empowered to exercise all of the powers reserved to the Trust Committee under Article III Section 2 hereof. In the event of the unavailability, at such time, of a minimum of two members of such Executive Committee, any three available directors shall constitute the Executive Committee for the full conduct and management of the affairs and business of the Company in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this Section. This By-Law shall be subject to implementation by Resolutions of the Board of Directors presently existing or hereafter passed from time to time for that purpose, and any provisions of these By-Laws (other than this Section) and any resolutions which are contrary to the provisions of this Section or to the provisions of any such implementary Resolutions shall be suspended during such a disaster period until it shall be determined by any interim Executive Committee acting under this section that it shall be to the advantage of the Company to resume the conduct and management of its affairs and business under all of the other provisions of these By-Laws.

  • Joint Consultative Committee 46.1 The parties recognise the need for effective communication to improve the business/operational performance and working environment in agencies. 46.2 The parties acknowledge that decisions will continue to be made by the employer who is responsible and accountable to Government for the effective and efficient operation of the agency. 46.3 The parties agree that: (a) where the employer proposes to make changes likely to affect existing practices, working conditions or employment prospects of employees, the union and employees affected shall be notified by the employer as early as possible; (b) for the purposes of discussion the employer shall provide to the employees concerned relevant information about the changes, including the effect of the changes on employees, provided the employer shall not be required to disclose any information that is confidential; (c) in the context of discussions the union and employees are able to contribute to the decision making process; and (d) the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) parties are to provide all reasonable and relevant information except confidential commercial, business or personal information, the release of which may seriously harm a party or individual. 46.4 Each agency will have a JCC comprising of the employer or their nominee, employer nominated representatives and union nominated representatives. 46.5 The JCC will convene within 28 days of a written request being received from either party. 46.6 The JCC will determine its own operating procedures. 46.7 JCCs will be a forum for consultation on issues such as: (a) development of workload management tools within the agency; (b) industrial issues; (c) fixed term and casual employment usage; (d) changes to work organisation and/or work practices occurring in the workplace; (e) agency implementation of recommendations from the ‘Functional Review of Government’; and (f) agency implementation of other aspects of this General Agreement. 46.8 Matters not resolved through the JCC can be referred to the provisions of clause 49 - Dispute Settlement Procedure.
