Use of Sick Leave - Death in the Immediate Family. Xxxx leave may also be used for death in the employee’s immediate family. In this section immediate family is defined to include all relatives listed in Section 4, plus brother-in-law, sister-in- law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece and nephew, xxxxx and nephew-in-law, aunt/uncle-in-law, grandparents-in-law and other relatives as approved by the Superintendent.

Use of Sick Leave - Death in the Immediate Family. Sick leave may also be used for death in the immediate family Four (4) contract days (per occurrence) shall normally be granted in instances involving the employee’s immediate family which include father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law or any other relative or non-marital partner living under the employee’s roof. Two (2) contract days will normally be granted for death in the immediate family which include grandmother, grandfather, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandson, granddaughter, cousin, aunt and uncle. One (1) contract day will normally be granted for death in the family for the following in-laws: grandfather, grandmother, niece, nephew, cousin, aunt and uncle. Based on special needs the Superintendent may grant additional sick days for death in the immediate family.

Funeral leave shall be available with the use of sick leave to attend and to plan funerals that occur on days school is in session shall be granted to a teacher upon request to the Superintendent as follows: Immediate family - up to three (3) days.   • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.

  • Death in Immediate Family A regularly scheduled employee may be granted up to five days of leave of absence with pay by the Agency/Department Head because of death in the immediate family. An employee shall be allowed to take such leave within a four week period. For purposes of this subsection, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in the appendices), son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Entitlement to leave of absence under this subsection shall be only for all hours the employee would have been scheduled to work for those days granted, and shall be in addition to any other entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave.

  • Illness in Immediate Family 1. Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher. Serious illness shall mean an illness where death is probable and may occur, surgery is performed requiring hospitalization, or illness requiring treatment by a physician. Two (2) additional days of sick leave may be used where round trip travel is 600 miles or more.

  • Donation of Sick Leave a. If a part-time bargaining unit member is absent due to a major illness, injury or accident, or absent and using Sick Leave in accordance with Article 20, and the member has exhausted all of his/her accumulated Sick Leave, the member may receive up to five (5) days of accumulated Sick Leave from any Part-Time Certified or Part-Time Classified bargaining unit member who wishes to donate these days. Members receiving donated days will be paid at their regular rate of pay.

  • Immediate family or household 25.2.1 The entitlement to use personal leave for the purposes of carer’s or bereavement leave is subject to the person in respect of whom the leave is taken being either:

  • Deductions from Sick Leave A deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave of all normal working days (exclusive of holidays) absent for sick leave.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use Family Sick Leave for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who requires the care and assistance of the employee. Up to eighty (80) hours per calendar year of the employee’s accumulated unused sick leave may be used for this purpose.

  • Immediate Family Immediate family includes husband, wife, child, stepchild, brother, brother-in-law, stepbrother, sister, sister-in-law, stepsister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any person serving as a parent, or who has served as a parent, or any other close person living in the same household as the employee.

  • Abuse of Sick Leave Misuse of leave, violation of orders, directives, or contractual requirements concerning the use of sick leave and other forms of leave used in lieu of sick leave are cause for disciplinary action.
