An employee will be granted unpaid Military Leave in accordance with the Employment Standards Act.
An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks two (2) through sixteen (16) for any absence due to a legitimate illness.
The normal weekly hours for an employee working less than seventy- five (75) hours bi-weekly shall be calculated by using the same period used for calculation of the Employment Insurance benefit.
That benefit will be equivalent to the difference between seventy-five percent (75%) of their regular weekly earnings (which for part-time employees shall include percentage-in-lieu) and the sum of their weekly Employment Insurance benefits and any other earnings.
The employee will endeavour to provide a copy of the initial confirmation of Employment Insurance payment (or more frequently where the payment changes) within two (2) weeks of receipt of the employee’s EI benefit.
