00 PURPOSE OF AGREEMENT. 1.01 The Union and the Company agree that the general purpose of this Agreement is to promote co-operation and harmony, to recognize mutual interests, to promote a channel through which information and problems may be transmitted from one to the other, to formulate rules to govern the relationship between the Company and the Union, to promote efficiency and service, and to set forth herein the basic agreement and understanding covering rates of pay, hours of work, grievance procedure and conditions of employment.
