Acting Principal. 4.15.1 When a permanent teacher relieves in the position of principal in the same school for a period of more than two weeks, payment for the period concerned shall be an allowance representing the difference between her/his salary and the minimum rate applicable to the principal’s position but shall not be less than the rate of salary in the teacher’s own permanent position.
4.15.2 When a permanent teacher(s) relieves in the position of principal in the same school because the principal has been released to undertake the functions of the Kāhui Ako Leadership role they shall be paid an allowance from the date they began the additional functions, provided that; they will be undertaking the additional functions for a cumulative period of more than two weeks; and the payment shall be an allowance representing the difference between the teacher’s salary and the minimum rate applicable to the principal’s position but shall not be less than the rate of salary in the teacher’s own permanent position; and as the teacher(s) is not undertaking the whole of the principal’s role, the allowance will be pro-rated provided the payment(s) to the teacher, or teachers in combination, do not exceed the total allowance payable for the portion of the time the principal is undertaking the Kāhui Ako Leadership role.
Acting Principal. Each year the principal will designate a staff member to function as acting principal. Those interested in functioning in this capacity will make their intentions known prior to the beginning of each school year. The successful candidate will be appointed before school opens and receive an annual stipend of $600.
Acting Principal. In the event that an incumbent of an administrative position, in a school, is absent from duty for a period in excess of five (5) consecutive teaching days, another administrator, supervisor or teacher selected by the School Jurisdiction shall assume the responsibility and be paid only the allowance of the administrative position the Acting Principal temporarily occupies commencing with the sixth (6) day and retroactive to the first day.
Acting Principal a) The Board may assign to a teacher the duties of an Acting Principal for a temporary period not to exceed the duration of the current school year.
b) Any extension of this period shall only be with the approval of OSSTF. OSSTF agrees that approval will not be unreasonably withheld.
c) No teacher shall be assigned the duties of an Acting Principal without his or her consent.
d) A teacher appointed as an Acting Principal will continue to be subject to all the terms and conditions of the collective agreement.
e) Any teacher assigned such duties shall not participate in the evaluation or discipline of another member of the bargaining unit.
f) The Board agrees to replace any teacher who accepts an Acting Principal for a temporary period as described in (a) and (b) above with an occasional teacher.
g) The Acting Principal shall be paid the appropriate daily rate on the Principal scale.

Acting Principal. An Acting Principal is defined as a Teacher appointed by the Principal in each building to assume the duties of the Principal in his/her absence. A stipend will be paid as per Appendix E.

Acting Principal. 3.23.1 If a classroom teacher is placed in charge of a building during the absence of the administrator from the building, the teacher will remain in the classroom unless an emergency requires him to go to the office. The special area teacher will temporarily take the teacher’s place in the classroom until the teacher is able to return if at all possible. However, if the principal is expected to be absent for five days or longer, a substitute shall be hired to teach the classes of the Acting Principal.
3.23.2 It is recommended that when possible a teacher who is requested to substitute for an administrator in his absence hold certification in administration, education leadership, and/or supervision and that the teacher shall have shown an interest and willingness to accept the responsibility.
3.23.3 The acting principal shall have the authority to make decisions in dealing with problems which might occur during the absence of the school administrator.

5.2.2 In the absence of the principal from a school where there is no vice-principal or in the absence of both the principal and vice-principal(s) from a school, a teacher shall be designated by the Board to be acting principal and shall be paid 50 per cent of the principal's allowance should the principal or
