Application for Vacation Leave. Applications for vacations from employees filed with the Department Head(s) prior to April 1st of each year shall be placed on the vacation roster indicating the period of vacation that the respective employee is eligible for. This roster shall be posted by May 1st of each year. Applicants shall be given preference in order of seniority as well as preference over the employees who fail to submit their vacation request prior to April 1st of each year. Vacation applied for shall not be changed without the consent of the affected employee and the Department Head(s). This Article does not apply to casual employees.

Application for Vacation Leave. Notice for vacation shall be provided to the Employer by the employee a minimum of one (1) month in advance. If an employee requests vacation leave with less than one (1) months’ notice, it may be denied for bona fide operational reasons. Vacation shall be approved in consideration of operational requirements. A minimum of twenty-five percent (25%) of employees per unit will be permitted to take vacation at any one time.
Application for Vacation Leave must be approved in advance of taking leave. An employee on authorized vacation leave may be granted an extension thereof upon his/her request. Upon approval by the Department Head, an employee may be advanced vacation leave.
Application for Vacation Leave. The employee desiring to take vacation leave shall be responsible for submitting an application, on a form prescribed by the respective county director of finance, in advance of the beginning date of the vacation to enable the Employer to make necessary arrangements for any readjustment of work. The advance notice period to submit an application for vacation leave may be prescribed by departmental regulations or policies. The advanced notice may be waived for emergency situations.
Application for Vacation Leave must be approved and submitted in ESS in advance of taking leave. The supervisor or his designee shall decide whether to allow the requested leave within 14 days of the submittal. If the supervisor fails to respond within the allotted time, the leave shall be deemed to be granted. Once vacation leave is approved by an employee’s supervisor, no other leave by another employee, even if more senior, may supersede this approved leave, unless the employee transfers or otherwise moves from the assignment. However, consideration will be given when an employee has already incurred expenses related to the approved vacation leave and has provided such proof to the supervisor. An employee on authorized vacation leave may be granted an extension thereof upon his/her request. Upon approval by the Department Head, an employee may be advanced vacation leave. When determining staffing for available discretionary leave slots, those on approved extended leave (i.e. consecutive FMLA, military leave, administrative leave) will not be included in the count.
