Apprentice Ratio to Trades people. To ensure that apprentices receive appropriate on the job training by experienced tradespeople and apprentice numbers are maximised, the Employer shall endeavour to maintain a ratio of at least one apprentice to three (3) tradespeople. Where this is not achievable due to health and safety reasons or matters outside of the Employer’s’ control, the parties shall discuss the matter and try and reach a settlement. In the event of a dispute in relation to matters dealt with in this clause 14.4.3 arising, the procedure in clauses 12.2.1 and 12.2.6 of this Agreement will apply. If not settled the matter may be referred by the employee (or if the employee elects by their representative) or the Employer to the Disputes Board in accordance with clause 12.2.11 of this Agreement. 1:1 ratio. Apprentice Ratio to Trades people. The parties to this Agreement recognise the Victorian electrical contracting industry will, during the life of this Agreement, be participating in unprecedented Victorian public infrastructure development. To avoid potential industry skill shortages, the parties agree to maximise the employment of Apprentices in accordance with the following provisions: (a) To ensure that apprentices receive appropriate on the job training by experienced tradespeople and apprentice numbers are maximised, the Employer shall endeavour to maintain a ratio of at least one apprentice to two (2) tradespeople. (b) Where this is not achievable due to health and safety reasons or matters outside of the Employer’s control, the parties shall discuss the matter and try and reach a settlement. (c) Subject to the Supervision Guidelines referred to in clause 17.7, there should be no more apprentices engaged than tradespeople on any site, project or job i.e. 1:1 ratio. (d) The Employer and the Union shall discuss and implement agreed strategies to maximise apprentice intake for the Employer. Provided that the application of this Clause shall not be used to displace existing Employees.

Work performed in a depot, holding yard, storage yard or pole yard, or for the preparation of poles prior to standing of poles provided at least one tradesperson is supervising no more than 3 apprentices and all appropriate controls are in place. d) In the scheduling of apprentices in work crews, consideration shall be given to the Employers Apprentice Supervision Guidelines. The Employer will consult with HSRs in the development/review of such guidelines.

  • APPRENTICES 6.36.1 The Contractor acknowledges and agrees that, if this Contract involves a dollar amount greater than or a number of working days greater than that specified in Labor Code Section 1777.5, this Contract is governed by the provisions of Labor Code Section 1777.5. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure compliance with this Article and with Labor Code Section 1777.5 for all apprenticeable occupations. 6.36.2 Pursuant to Labor Code Section 1777.5 if that Section applies to this Contract as indicated above, the Contractor and any subcontractors under him employing workers in any apprenticeable craft or trade in performing any work under this Contract shall apply to the applicable joint apprenticeship committee for a certificate approving the Contractor or subcontractor under the applicable apprenticeship standards and fixing the ratio of apprentices to journeymen employed in performing the work. 6.36.3 Pursuant to Labor Code Section 1777.5 if that Section applies to this Contract as indicated above, he Contractor and any subcontractor under him may be required to make contributions to the apprenticeship program. 6.36.4 The Contractor and all subcontractors under him shall comply with Labor Code Section 1777.6 which Section forbids certain discriminatory practices in the employment of apprentices.

  • Adult Apprentices 26.1 Adult apprentices are apprentices who commence their apprenticeship at the age of 21 years or older. Adult apprentices engaged under any of the classifications set out in Appendix 1 and will be paid a minimum rate equal to the rate of pay for a second-year apprentice, for the first two years of the apprenticeship, then on parity with other apprentices for the third and fourth years.
