Approved Unpaid Leave. 8-9-1 Unpaid leaves of absence may be approved for other uncovered purposes or when an employee lacks sufficient leave accruals to cover their absence. 8-9-2 Requests for unpaid leave must be submitted by the employee to their supervisor for approval as soon as practicable. The request will identify the reason the leave is needed and the expected duration of the leave. See Appendix F.
Approved Unpaid Leave. Employees on an approved unpaid leave of absence will be required to exhaust all accrued PTO before the approved unpaid leave of absence begins.

  • Unpaid Leave 6. Accrued compensatory time off may be used at the employee’s discretion, with management approval, after exhaustion of 100% sick leave (No. 3 above). However, FLSA compensatory time off shall not be counted against the employee’s four (4) month (nine [9] pay period [720 hours]) family or medical leave entitlement. Therefore, any use of FLSA compensatory time off under this Section shall extend the employee’s family or medical leave by the total amount of FLSA compensatory time off used.
