Approved Unpaid Leave. The Department can grant so-called “Red A” leave, which is approved unpaid leave, at Management’s sole discretion, per Personnel Manual Index Code I-7.
Approved Unpaid Leave. 8-9-1 Unpaid leaves of absence may be approved for other uncovered purposes or when an employee lacks sufficient leave accruals to cover their absence. 8-9-2 Requests for unpaid leave must be submitted by the employee to their supervisor for approval as soon as practicable. The request will identify the reason the leave is needed and the expected duration of the leave. See Appendix F.
Approved Unpaid Leave. Employees on an approved unpaid leave of absence will be required to exhaust all accrued PTO before the approved unpaid leave of absence begins.
