Assignment of Temporary Vacancies. All routes that are vacant (open) on a temporary basis (regular routes, Shuttle routes, etc.) shall be filled by regular drivers without a conflict with his/her regular assignment and in the order of most senior first. Double routes will be split into single routes for temporary filling. If a route is temporarily vacant for more than 7 work days in a row, the board has the right to fill it with one (1) driver for consistency.

Assignment of Temporary Vacancies. The City may need to fill other temporary vacancies to meet operational requirements. The City will fill these positions by offering the position to the most senior Employee with the skill and ability to do the job, or if refused by such employee or in the absence of an Employee with the required skill and ability, the position will be offered to the next senior Employee with the skill and ability to do the job. Such offers to fill temporary vacancies shall only be made in writing by the City Manager, or his designee. An employee temporarily assigned to a higher paying classification will be placed on the same step as their regular position.

  • Temporary Vacancy A vacancy in a position caused by the regularly assigned occupant being absent from duty (including on vacation but excluding pre-retirement vacation) or temporarily assigned to other duties.

  • Temporary Assignments When an employee is assigned temporarily by his/her appointing authority to a job for which he/she is qualified in a higher pay grade for a period of five (5) days or his/her regular workweek, whichever is less, the employee shall be paid retroactively from the initial date of the temporary transfer for the duration of the temporary assignment. This Article shall not be used in lieu of the proper processing of any request for reclassification or reallocation of a position pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Reclassifications Article, or the filling of a vacancy pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Seniority Article.
