Bereavement Leave With Pay. For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother, or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse, child, (including spouse’s child), stepchild or xxxx of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides. d) An employee is entitled to one (1) day's bereavement leave with pay for purposes relating to the death of the employee's brother-in-law or sister-in-law, and may in addition, be granted up to two (2) days’ leave with pay for the purposes of travel related to the death.
(ce) If, during a period of vacation compensatory leave, an employee is bereaved in circumstances under which s/he or she would have been eligible for bereavement leave with pay under paragraph (a), (b), (c) or (bd) of this clause, the employee s/he shall be granted bereavement leave with pay and his or his/her compensatory leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay granted.
(d) In the event that an employee’s religious beliefs or individual circumstances require observance at times other than immediately before or after the funeral, NAV CANADA may postpone the period of time (or any part of) provided for in this Article to such alternate time(s).
(e) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, NAV CANADA may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in clause 29.02 (a) and (b).

(e) If, during a period of compensatory leave, an employee is bereaved in circumstances under which the employee would have been eligible for bereavement leave with pay under this clause, the employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay and compensatory leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay granted.
(f) An employee may request annual, compensatory, personal leave or leave without pay in order to attend the funeral or memorial service of individuals not meeting the definition of “immediate family” as described in paragraph (a) and or individuals not mentioned in paragraph (b)c) of the present article. Such a request shall not be unreasonably denied.

ii) in addition, an the employee is bereaved in circumstances under which he or she would have been eligible for bereavement may be granted up to three (3) days leave with pay under paragraph (afor the purpose of travel related to the death.

D) An employee is entitled to up to fourteen (14) hours bereavement leave per year with pay to attend or participate at a funeral of a person that is not immediate family, subject to operational requirements.

(b) An employee is entitled to one (l) day's bereavement leave with pay for the purpose related to the death of his or her son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or law, sister-in-law, and relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides and/or traditional Gitxsan affiliations as determined by the administrator in consultation with tribal elder.
(cA) IfWhen a member of his/her immediate family dies, during an employee:
i) shall be entitled to a bereavement period of vacation leavefive (5) consecutive calendar days which does not extend beyond the day following the day of the funeral. During such period he shall be paid for those days which are not regularly scheduled days of rest for that employee;
ii) in addition, an the employee is bereaved in circumstances under which he or she would have been eligible for bereavement may be granted up to three (3) days leave with pay under paragraph (afor the purpose of travel related to the death.
B) or (b) In special circumstances and at the request of this clausethe employee, the employee shall fourth (4th) day bereavement period may be granted bereavement leave with pay and his or her leave credits shall be restored to moved beyond the extent day following the day of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay grantedthe funeral but must include the day of the funeral.
(d) In the event that an employee’s religious beliefs or individual circumstances require observance at times other than immediately before or after the funeral, NAV CANADA may postpone the period of time (or any part of) provided for in this Article to such alternate time(s).
(eC) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, NAV CANADA the Employer may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in clause 29.02 Article 14.02 (aA)(i) and (bC).
D) An employee is entitled to one (1) day bereavement leave with pay to attend or participate at a funeral.

Bereavement Leave With Pay. (ii) The second period must be taken no later than twelve (12) months from the date of death for the purpose of attending a ceremony.
(iii) The employee may be granted no more than three (3) days’ leave with pay, in total, for the purposes of travel for these two (2) periods.
(d) An employee is entitled to one (l1) day's bereavement leave with pay for the purpose related to the death of his or her son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, aunt or uncle and grandparents of spouse.
(ce) If, during a period of vacation paid leave, an employee is bereaved in circumstances under which he or she would have been eligible for bereavement leave with pay under paragraph paragraphs 21.02(a) and (a) or (b) of this claused), the employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay and his or her paid leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay granted.
(d) In the event that an employee’s religious beliefs or individual circumstances require observance at times other than immediately before or after the funeral, NAV CANADA may postpone the period of time (or any part of) provided for in this Article to such alternate time(s).
(ef) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, NAV CANADA the CEO or his or her authorized representative, may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater and/or in a manner different than that provided for in clause 29.02 sub-clauses 21.02 (a) and (b). For the purpose of this article, “family” is defined per Article 3 and in addition:
(g) A person who stands in the place of a relative for the employee whether or not there is any degree of consanguinity between such person and the employee. An employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave under 21.02
(a) only once during the employee’s total period of employment in the public service.

An employee is entitled to one half of a day to be a pallbearer for someone not in the immediate family or referred to in This entitlement may be extended to one day at the discretion of the Employer. (d) In the event that an employee’s religious beliefs or individual circumstances require observance at times other than immediately before or after the funeral, NAV CANADA may postpone the period of time (or any part of) provided for in this Article to such alternate time(s).
(e) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, NAV CANADA may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in clause 29.02 (a) and (b).

In in addition, the employee may be granted up to three (3) days' days leave with pay for the purpose purposes of travel related to the death.
(b) In special circumstances and at the request of the employee, bereavement leave with pay may be extended beyond the day following the day of the funeral or interment.
c) An employee is entitled to one three (l3) day's days bereavement leave with pay for the purpose related to the death of his or her grandchild, son-in-law, law or daughter-in-law, .
d) An employee is entitled to one (1) day bereavement leave with pay for the purpose related to the death of his brother-in-law or sister-in-law. At the discretion of the employer, this leave may be extended up to three (3) days where it can clearly be shown that the employee is required to perform special or unusual activities to assist other aggrieved relations of his immediate family.
(ce) If, during a period of vacation compensatory leave, an employee is bereaved in circumstances under which he or he/she would have been eligible for bereavement leave with pay under paragraph (a), (b), (c) or (bd) of this clause, the employee he/she shall be granted bereavement leave with pay and his or his/her compensatory leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay granted.
(d) In the event that an employee’s religious beliefs or individual circumstances require observance at times other than immediately before or after the funeral, NAV CANADA may postpone the period of time (or any part of) provided for in this Article to such alternate time(s).
(e) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, NAV CANADA may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in clause 29.02 (a) and (b).

Bereavement Leave With Pay. For the purpose of this Articleclause, the definition of immediate family will include the relatives of a common law spouse in the same manner as would be applied to the relatives of a spouse.
