CHEMICAL AREA VACANCIES. Vacancies in the Chemical Area except Shift Engineer shall be filled as follows: Employees possessing a valid 3rd or 4th *Class Stationary Engineer ticket. Employees with all 4th Class modules successfully completed and marks registered with the Company. Any employee previously or currently classified as a Chemical I. * *These successful applicants shall be awarded the job at the Nitric and Boiler Operator level and rate of pay until successful completion of the 4th Class Stationary Engineer's certificate, which must be applied for within one year of the appointment. On providing the Company written evidence of successful completion of all the required examinations and the Chief Operating Engineer's confirming that the prerequisite hours have been worked the employee will be paid the Nitric Boiler Operator rate of pay. In order to maintain this rate of pay and be appointed a Nitric Boiler Operator I the employee must obtain a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer's certificate within months of completing 4th class certificate. Contractor may purchase preservative-treated wood products on the list of environmentally preferable alternatives prepared and adopted by the Department of the Environment. This provision does not preclude Contractor from purchasing preservative-treated wood containing arsenic for saltwater immersion. The term “saltwater immersion” shall mean a pressure-treated wood that is used for construction purposes or facilities that are partially or totally immersed in saltwater.
