Compensation on Demotion. On demotion (i.e., moved from one class to another class having a lower maximum rate of pay), the employee's salary shall be at the rate closest to the employee's rate in the previous range, unless the City and employee otherwise agree in writing. The effective date of all demotions shall coincide with the first working day of a pay period. The employee shall not be required to serve a probation period in the lower position.
Compensation on Demotion. When an employee is demoted, the employee shall retain the same step as he/she held in the previous salary. Increases in compensation shall thenceforth be in accordance with the schedule set forth in Section 08.06 of this Article as if the employee was originally employed in the new classification.
