Deaths. 1) In the event of a death of a Contract Agency inmate in the County jail, the Contract Agency shall be promptly notified by telephone or fax with a follow-up notification in writing via US mail. Xxxxx County Sheriff’s Office and the Xxxxx County Coroner will investigate the circumstances. The Contract Agency may, if it wishes, join in the investigation and receive copies of records and documents in connection with the investigation.

Deaths. If reasonable notice is given to his/her supervisor, an employee shall suffer no loss of regular pay for a reasonable amount of scheduled time lost on account of death in the immediate family or household of such employee.

If a death or funeral of a member of the employee’s immediate family occurs during the employee’s vacation, the employee will be allowed to use funeral leave and reschedule the remainder of his/her vacation if time and service requirements permit.

Lewis County will promptly comply with all state and local requirements regarding notifications and investigations.

Deaths. In the event of a death in the employee’s family or household, he/she may be allowed up to three consecutive days away from work with pay. The employee is responsible for contacting his or her supervisor to inform them of the death and to discuss the needed time off. The employee's immediate family is defined as follows: • Employee's Spouse or Domestic Partner; • Children or Stepchildren; • Daughter-in-law or Son-in-law; • Parents or Stepparents of Employee or Spouse; • Brothers and Sisters / In-laws; • Grandparents / Great Grandparents of Employee or Spouse; • Grandchildren / Great Grandchildren of Employee or Spouse; and • A person living in the household of the Employee or Spouse as a legal dependent of either.
Deaths. In the event of a death of an employee's wife, husband, daughter, son, mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild(ren), mother-in-law, father-in- law, stepmother, stepchild(ren), stepfather, or other persons living as part of the employee's family, any such employee scheduled to work shall be excused for a period not to exceed three (3) days beginning with the date of the death, and ending with the day after the funeral, without any loss of pay at straight time rates for the hours such employee was scheduled to work. Additional time off, without pay may be granted if necessary and requested. In the case of death of a brother-in-law or sister-in-law, absence with pay shall be allowed for the time necessary on the day of the funeral to attend the funeral.
