Educational Improvements. An employee may be granted an unpaid leave of absence for a maximum of one school year for the purpose of engaging in a program of studies related to his/her professional responsibilities at an accredited institution of higher education. Educational improvement leave will only be considered for employees taking a minimum of nine (9) semester hours during one school year. If nine (9) semester hours of appropriate course work are not available during the leave of absence, the employee shall submit certification thereof to the personnel office. The certification shall be signed by the employee and an appropriate college official. Official college transcripts must be provided to the Personnel Office at the end of the leave of absence. A "Request for Educational Improvement Leave" must be completed when requesting leave for educational improvements.
