Exchange of Shift. Nurses who, for their own personal convenience, wish to exchange shifts after the schedule is posted with other appropriately qualified Nurses, shall submit a written request form to the Director of Nursing or designate for approval that includes the signature of at least one of the nurses directly involved confirming the agreement. The Director of Nursing or designate shall make the appropriate change on the time schedule. The Director of Nursing or designate approval shall not be unreasonably denied. The Employer shall not be responsible for overtime claims or other premium rates that might otherwise apply as a result of the exchange of shifts. Where shift exchanges are required to accommodate the needs of a nurse with less than twenty-four (24) hours’ notice, such written request shall not be required; however, the nurse accepting the shift shall contact the Director of Nursing or designate in advance to confirm acceptance.
Exchange of Shift. With prior authorization, employees shall be permitted to switch shifts of equal time. The parties agree that Pool Scheduling for Early Childhood Educators Grade II (ECE II) shall follow these terms and conditions:
Exchange of Shift. Employees shall have the right to temporarily exchange shifts when such an exchange does not interfere with the operation of the Police Department or create overtime. The employee shall give notice to the shift commander at least one (1) day prior to the proposed exchange.

A request for a shift exchange with a co-worker in the same job category must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the employee willing to exchange, a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours in advance and must be approved by the Chief Engineer or delegate, except in cases of emergencies at which time the employee will give as much notice as possible. It is understood that such changes in the schedule initiated by employees shall not result in overtime payment nor does it constitute a breach of Employment Standards Act by the employer. Individual employees are responsible for upholding their agreed upon portion of the shift exchange.
